Is there a chance FW will amend Dorn's rules?

Only if they drop Unwieldy on Silence too tongue.png

...please?

Mortarion is a total beast with brilliant rules... Not sure we can say the same for Dorn :-/

Well, aside from Silence itself and poisoned missiles (woo...) I agree.

Storm's Teeth is mentioned as being only one of several weapons that Dorn uses. I've been thinking we might see alternate weapons for several loyalist primarchs way further down in the heresy actually, as these are the weapons they favored in the Great Crusade. Now that things are getting more desperate and they may have to face off with daemon primarchs, I wouldn't be surprised to see some alternate weapon entries as some of the loyalists look to more dangerous/desperate weaponry.

Didn't FW say that when the model comes out, unwieldy is going to make sense.

It's gonna be huge, I'm picturing Cloud from Final Fantasy VII.

To answer your question though - Of course it's possible. I don't particularly feel he needs it though, I always saw him as an army buff, not a front line combat monster.

Can anyone explain what makes him so bad at 385pts?

He has Weapon Skill 8. That is the same as Horus, Fulgrim, Curze, Perturabo the equal of him, and Angron the better. Admittedly, we are left with Russ, Sanguinius, the Lion and the Khan, all of whom arguably are around a similar quality. But he is better than Mortarion, Vulkan, Lorgar, Alpharius, Corax and Ferrus. He has S6, Shred and Rampage. S6 and Shred is better than S7; against most targets, he's wounding on a 2+ with reroll. On the charge, that's average 7 attacks, hitting on a 3+; 4-5 hits, wounding on a 2+ with a rr; 4-5 wounds. Alternatively, facing monstrous creatures, he can go to 3-4 attacks and simply crush them. I've seen him take down a Wraithknight with 4 attacks wounding on a 4+ with a Shred in a single turn. Lucky, but 3 hits (hitting on 3's) 3 wounds (wounding on a 4+ reroll) and 3 failed saves later, and a happy set of D3's later, it's kaplooey! Wraithknight goo everywhere. Same applies for Castellax.

Now, your complaints for who you're facing. "He's only Unwieldy". Anybody who is facing a Primarch, or thinks that they might be bringing a Primarch are going to bring Thunder Hammers. Guess what they do? The difference is that you already have Unwieldy, so it triggers from round 1, rather than round 2.

As for what else he brings? Scoring Deep Striking Terminators? 225pts to bring down 5 Combi-Weapons with a 2+/4++ and power weapons. Seeker Squads have to take an Anvillus Pod or Orbital Assault Rite of War which can hammer the rest of the list (and drops the cost of the Terminators to 210pts); to have the same effect, you have to spend 225 just on the unit, let alone the delivery service. And they take up Fast Attack, and cost between a further 35/100pts(+1FA) for delivery method. For a unit which gets 1/battle Twin Linked and Precision Shots over a 2+/4++ no Overwatch, or a 2+/5++ with overwatch and Power Weapons.

Gives his army Ld10 and +d3 to Combat on some possibly stubborn units. Right. He doesn't even need to engage to basically grant the benefit in CC of giving a normal Tactical Squad another 12 attacks. And 3 Fortifications/ruins rerolling 1's and causing Pinning (Ld10 Stubborn) to be rerolled.

He's not the best. But he's not the worst. He is the most likely Primarch to be taken, after possibly Corax if you have the points to spend.

Unwieldy? Blah. Can't see the wood for the trees.

I think the unwieldy is meant to represent them versus other primarchs and then it makes sense him and Mort being slower then fulgrim or horus (but maybe not perdy ) but slower then a tac marine is a Lil silly but hey what do you do I think he is ok for his points just not as amazing like some primarchs but we do have sigi and Polux so I'm not complaining

If you wanted a close-combat monster you should have picked a different legion msn-wink.gif

Thank you. Way too many rules/gaming obsessed IF players around the AoD forum these days. Easy access to battle scribe and free time to build lists is killing the VII Legion spirit.
