When will the Prospero book be released?

Given it's been bumped back at least 3 volumes, only believe it's out when FW post a pic of a completed copy or someone get's to sit down with the guys in the studio and bleeds the answer from them.

In all seriousness, next Oct/Nov is the absolute earliest. I'd expect some form of upgrade kit in the meantime but that's about it

Well Book VI was delayed and should be here February 2016 or maybe earlier, so +7-8 months = maybe September/October for VII. We'll see.

Apparently they want a lot of the models for VII done before the book even hits, and it sounds like at least the Thousand Sons upgrade sets are done... so that's something

Forge World have also been working on updates for some of the Imperial Armours, so that may have contributed to the delays.

If Prospero itself really is in a book much further along, do you think they'll do the Legion rules earlier, like the Dark Angels, Blood Angels and White Scars are getting with book VI ?

I kind of doubt it, because from the sounds of it even the Space Wolves are going to have a somewhat irregular list. They've described it as having to release four whole new armies, unlike when they had a core list with tweaks for the other 16 Legions.

Again, we'll see! I'm going off whispers and hearsay from events, haven't been to one myself for maybe 10 years now.

I doubt it. We've had 2nd editions for essentially half the IA range thus far, and they haven't disrupted the '2 new books a year' schedule. More likely, assuming we have indeed lost a release this year, it's just due to FW being slow and/or un-organised. I'm honestly starting to think it's a censored.gifcensored.gif conspiracy at this point, and they'll never actually release the Wolves and Inferno. Or they're just waiting for 9th edition and new psychic rules to make the Sons easier to write unsure.png.

It'll come out when it's ready. FW have been pretty clear about wanting to release a quality product when they can, not an inferior one now.

I think it's good to see a company take that sort of approach.

In the meantime we just have to be patient and build our "secondary" armies. :)

If that was the case then none of the other books would be out because they would have busted their humps getting the book done.

Instead it keeps getting put to one side because something shinier came along.

Inferno is a book to fall back on when they have nothing much to work on.

They will eventually get to the point of leaving it because they will be too far in to the heresy

Absolutely. We haven't had it yet because FW either haven't been trying to finish it, or they are incompetent. Calling them incompetent does not seem like a fair accusation given the (mostly) excellent quality of the products they do release, which leaves me thinking they're just not trying. Which is why I'm getting more and more annoyed and bitter every time there's another delay (even with the models) furious.gif.

Guys... really. REALLY. This is a big range that goes through a lot of concept sketches and test models, which then get scrapped and reworked when they're not completely satisfied.

They have to do a special dreadnought, terminators, command units, infantry AND possibly even jump infantry for the Custodes alone. So when they occasionally say something like "Alan Bligh isn't working on this book right now because the models are lagging behind," they mean it. There is no conspiracy, this is just getting ridiculous. It hasn't even been that long since this whole thing kicked off, and just because 3 Legions have jumped ahead of you for Legion rules and upgrade kits, they're going to take MUCH longer to see models for their Primarchs, special units and characters than you are. Get real and stop being petulant, these aren't the forums for it.

I've been waiting for model support beyond the one box set for the Thousand Sons for over 15 years. You can wait one more year if I can.

We will get Prospero some time around after the book on the siege of Terra. By then though they will have  figured out Custodes, Sisters of Silence &  T-Sons, as they were all present to some extent.

Let's not forget another 8 variations of the Guard, atleast 3 new Knights, and more clockwork soldiers.

Just because its a Legionary War doesnt mean the Legions actually take precedence.

In light of the massive popularity of wolfy-mcwolf executioner anti-Astartes Space Wolves...FW will definitely be releasing Prospero books in the near-future. It's money in the bank. No way would they indefinitely delay a guaranteed best-seller

Agreed. Prospero will probably be their biggest seller so far, book and models.

Even once complete, I would expect a longer an usual wait as they will have to print more copies before release.

That being said, I can believe that it might be shuffled a little due to the release of Betrayal at Calth. We also have rumours of more plastic Heresy/box sets on the way so they may affect the release window too.

I agree with Kol Saresk. It will be the date FW assign to it.

Which is 32nd of October :)

Btw, at the open days it was not confirmed that Prospero would be the next book after Retaliation, as they may bump other stuff ahead of it depending on a few factors.

Also the designers were only in the early stages of sketches for the Wolves at Amsterdam.

I do not see the point in being optimistic for next year. I would love to be proved wrong.

@ Lets you down: This is precisely the forum for it. Noigrim asked, I answered a little tongue in cheek. I was not being petulant. I know Alan Bligh cannot devote all his time to one book etc...  But it does grate on your nerves when the book you are promised is coming next gets bumped year on year with vague excuses.

@Corswain: Custodes and T-Sons will be big sellers. Wolves will not if this forum is anything to go by with the levels of wolf-hate and wolf-baiting that goes on. I have found B&C a lot less stressful since I found out there is an ignore function on here I can se for certain people.

The fact hat they can go and make new army lists, and new models for an already OP Eldar army, but not even think to revisit Bran Redmaw should be an indicator of where Wolves rank with FW.

Not being petulant (not using bold italic, caps etc) just calmly voicing my opinion.

The B&C SW subforum has a massive number of posts relative to other legions' subforums.

LOL at SW being unpopular. We're just a vocal minority. Please don't let our bitter comments prevent you from drowning in wolfy mcwolfish viking werewolf executioner SW goodness. To each his own.

Get the DA and BA out the way first.

The TS and SW can be last seeing as they are causing such delays in terms of rules.

Why ARE the SW so different, exactly? I don't recall reading anything that made me think the Legion is organised or fought drastically differently from the others.

I understand why TS are an issue...

Mostly because they want to make Space Wolves not Cartooney Stereotypes while also having strong enough of a resemblence to their 40k Counterpart that a logical progression from point a -> point b would be clear enough. As well as expanding them beyond what 30k Material There is for them, the majority of which is contained in the two Prospero Book, iirc.

And with fans as diehard (not meant in any derogatory way) as the Space Wolves, if they dont get it right and do them justice, they'd have shot themselves in the foot with a .50 cal round.

I am not sure why Wolves would be so different. Their specialism is close quarter warfare rather than straight out assault (get close, unload firepower, mop up in hand to hand).

If they are the mob to get things done no matter how, they would have access to destroyers etc

T-Sons do not need to be necessarily complex either. They were a legion known for their psykers, but the majority were not psykers. One psyker per squad, with one of the 4 disciplines, he can try to use a power per turn, but if he perils, the flesh change consumes him. Make them weaker in cc to reflect their reliance on the psychic powers.

Sisters are carapace or flakk jacket wearing warriors in squads of 3-5, not used as full blown armies, as they are too rare. Any psyker within 6" for example has his powers shut down. It isn't too long a reach to be OP, plus the attacker has o be aggressive yet canny so they do not get killed off too quickly.

Custodes: a basic custodies is an equal to a sergeant, a sergeant to a centurion and a centurion to a Praetor. All have power/ ID weapons. This reflects their eliteness, and they have a points value to match. Not unkillable, but dead hard.

First it was a balance thing, then it was a rules thing, then it was a models thing, then it was we want to make the whole army thing which we have never done before. Now they have an idea of what to do but its not on paper. T-Sons have an upgrade kit ready to go and at Amsterdam Wolves were in early concept sketches, no word on where Sisters or Custodes are design wise.

It is getting to be one excuse after another.

I practically guarantee, Inferno will be book 9 or 10. They will do a Calth/ Ultramar underground warfare book, and because the upgrades etc are out, so they have been thinking of the armies. DA/BA and WS will be coming down the pipeline too. They have already said Prospero may not be book 7.

I am not being petulant or negative (well a little negative) but this is honestly how I think it will go down

The joke should no longer be it'll happen when FW do DA shoulder pads, it should be "it'll happen when FW do Prospero"
