Age of Darkness Librarians?

I want to build a librarian for my 30k Salamanders... but most of the librarians I can find out there are determinedly 40k in character. I was wondering if anyone has got any idea for converting/kit-bashing librarians for the Age of Darkness.

Pics are encouraged!

Sevrin Loth with a Simple Shoulder and Backpack Swap is the easiest one.

Psychic Hood Be damned! used him as my Thousand Sons entry for March of the Legions.

Otherwise, there is no real 100% 30k Librarian since they weren't as codified as their 40k Counterparts. For one, they didnt wear the Librarian Blue.

Give him a Mantle and a Storm Shield.

Theres your 2+/3++ EW HQ.

I'm getting two copies of BaC. So far I've already built:

  • Power armor guy with crozius, added a storm shield = chaplain in power armor
  • Terminator guy with apthecary bits = primus medicae in terminator armor

Also owned:

  • Techmarine guy with added storm shield = forge lord in artificer armor

With the contents of my ext copy of BaC I was planning to build:

  • Power armor guy with sword and shield = generic badass who could be praetor, a delegatus centurion, or a company champion
  • Terminator armor guy with sword and shield = the same, but in terminator armor

Still desired:

  • Suitably impressive power armor guy with bolter to build as vigilator
  • Power armor primus medicae
  • Power armor librarian

And I think that's all I need.

You're in the same boat as me in that regard.

Currently got:

5 Apothecaries:

  • 1 in TDA with a Thunderhammer
  • 1 in PA with a Power Fist / Sol Glove
  • 1 in PA with a GK Halberd. Might end up being an EC model or something.
  • 2 of the Apoths from the FW Set.

and a metric ton of other characters that can fill any/all roles that I need, hell, even my 40k TFC Gunner Tech Marine can be used as a PA Forge Lord if I need to.

Oh, yeah, and I'm probably going to have three or so less impressive-looking apothecaries in power armor, but I'll be running them as the elites-choice version.

The only reason I have so many is because they were mostly all made BEFORE they got the Support Officer Rule slapped on.

WHY FORGEWORLD WHY!?!

...I also love apothecaries (as if my lists weren't evidence enough)

Support Officer rule? Let me download the FAQ...

Just found a description of the World Eaters Librarian Esca in ADB's Betrayer

'Esca loosened his wrists, cutting through the air with both of his blades. His psychic hood was an armoured half dome over the back of his head, with its cables bonded to his temples.'

I also recall mention of Rubio of the Knights Errant mentioning psychic hoods in terms of pre nikea. I'm imagining that the Legions don't have psychic hoods at Isstvan due to the Nikea edicts still being in effect...

Those legions which disobeyed or were absent (VIII and the Raven Guard Exploration (?) Fleet springs to mind) would probably still use psychic hoods and post Isstvan I'd imagine the hood becomes widely used again...

Actually Israfael(I think? Zahariel's mentor) in the Dark Angel books had blue armor so......... yeah. There was blue there, just as there were psychic hoods. It's just that as each Legion gained its own personality, the color was changed and then mostly "forgotten" until the Codex was written.

You could have blue, there's nothing to say that Librarians didn't wear blue. You could have a blue shoulder pad, or the whole model blue.

You can but wasn't that one of the codifying things The Big G brought in?

Maybe the codex made it the official scheme for librarians but that doesn't mean it wasn't used before. I think we are seein in the Heresy a lot of the foundations for the future codex
