Hey guys!

This is my first real project log here. I have two large projects going on right now, one is a project started to get my mind of my fathers death back in 2012 (also my return to the hobby) consisting of Minotaurs and Death korps of Krieg themed around the fall of Orpheus campaign.

But having started my minotaurs back in 2012 I also love the badab campaign (and now we are closing in on the purpose of this thread)

My second large project is a 6 armies each consisting of 1000p set in the Badab wars. First up are my Lamenters wich I started last august to get use of some death company models I had.

On with the show!

My way of looking at the fluff surrounding the Lamenters are that they are neither vanilla marines, nor proper Blood angels. for this I use the Blood angels codex, but I mainly use units recognized from the regular Space marine codex. That means sanguinary priests are regular apothecarys, I use Furioso dreads and Baal predators, but stay away from named characters (Besides Malakim Phoros), death company and SAnguinary guards. I will write a post with my initial list and my thoughts on my 1000p armies later on. For now I wanted to introduce myself and the project and show you what I have built so far.

I feel the same way (about the cursed founding chapters that I know about). Its kindof typical, when the Imperium tries to do this big founding, the biggest since the second founding (I think it was, right?) and every experiment just turns into something else. I dont know, but its much in the setting and the Imperium of man that I like but just cant really put into words why it speaks to me. Doom and gloom certainly is a big part of it, but beyond that. I cant say!

anyway, here are the models I have so far, missing from my first 1000 points are 7 assault marines with a apothecary, 6 tacticals and a rhino. I have most, if not all, of the actual models, but i started repositioning legs in order to make them stand in uneven rubble, and then it was too much work so I started something else instead.

First out is a group pic:

A razorback w/o turret, a baal with a vanilla loadout (to keep with the theme descibed in the op), 5 running tacticals with my captain, a Furioso dreadnaught mid-assembly and four out of my ten-man tactical squad.

Below are a couple of closer pictures. As you can see I mix vanilla marines with Blood angels tactical squad pieces. I leave most BA heraldry as it is because i figure the chapter are proud of their lineage, even if they are sort of outsiders (wich in my world only makes their noble ancetry even more important to them), also the details look great and I dont want to cut them all off and just make vanilla marines. I use alot of blood drops with one wing, but never (I think) two wings.

So I have a testmoed that I tried my yellow recipe on mostly to have something to show. Its important to me to try to keep this plog updated even if some things might be a bit boring for you guys.

I also wanted to share my initial 1000p list.

My first 1000 points is led by a fairly cheap captain. I love making these smaller lists and I know how I like them. I prefer a good mix of units, trying to stay away from the most expensive or op stuff.

(Adeptus astartes Blood Angels)

Captain (120p)

Inferno pistol, Power sword

Sanguinary priest (90p)

Jump pack, power sword, bolt pistol

Furioso Dreadnought (135p)

Blood talons, magna grapple

(10) Tactical Squad (230p)

Heavy flamer, Plastma gun

Veteran sergeant; storm bolter, chainsword, meltabomb

Rhino

(5) Tactical squad (165p)

Flamer

Veteran sergeant; bolt pistol, Combi-plastma, meltabombs

Razorback; Twin-linked heavy flamer

(7) Assault squad (164p)

Flamer, meltagun

Veteran sergeant; bolt pistol, powersword, melta bomb

Predator (95p)

Autocannon, heavy bolter sponsons

While writing it down I realized my model for the predator is a baal, but in my list I run it as a regular one. Note sure thats fair to my opponents, so I might have to make some changes.

Anyway, I hope to present a finished marine by the end of the week. Thanks for watching and feel free to comment on whatever!

The test model has come out looking good thus far! I also do not think using a Baal model for a predator is a big deal as its the same metal box. The Baal looks cooler in my opinion. As long as your opponents can tell or know that it is a predator then you're good.

Do you need a regular predator turret? I still have one on sprue with the lascannon/autocannon weapons.

The first tactical marine is on the way, of course I chose the most detailed one. So far I like to paint them, very different from my Minotaurs. The blood angel symbol on his left greave was supposed to be black, as it is an old armour handed down from another campaign or something along those lines (or maybe at founding), but when the other droplets got painted red it felt unfinished so I made that red too. I guess that means Ill have to colour the wings too.

Worst part is the black stings, i have never bothered with learning to highlight black even though I think I know how (in theory). Blueìsh-grey?

Hushrong, Biohazard, AlphariusOmegon108, Boudan (excellent avatar!), Grizzly_bear, Deathspectresgt7and Legionary Palla: thanks alot for commenting! Sorry for not replying to them indivually, from now on I will.

As always, thanks for looking and thanks for the encouragement. It really helps!

Oooh lovely yellow! The Lamenter is coming on nicely, Thrillhouse!

I personally use Dark Reaper and some Dawnstone to highlight the blacks. Just don't overdo the highlights otherwise it won't look like black anymore haha ;)

A light gray works for highlighting black. It's just got to go on real thin, so use the side of your brush perpendicular to the surface, if that makes sense. It takes some practice to get it thin. You don't want layers of shades of black to gray unless you're wanting to go insane. Lol.

Looks like a fun project! Keep it up!

Time to ressurect this topic.

I have joined the kitbashing challenge over in the Blood angels forum.

This is the start of my own version of Malakim Phoros. Im still debating wether to use a regular inferno-pistol or the wrist mounted one from the Sanguinary guard.

Either way the first step is to sort out the chestpiece, it didnt fit so good over Artemis original one.

I've ran out of likes for today but this is off to a great start! He's a character I've always wanted to build and you have got a great pose and look going so far, can't wait to see more. thumbsup.gif

Thanks a bunch! You are one of the people whos fearless chopping-up-and-reassembling plastic did convince me to go for it and rplave a part of the chest piece.

Malakim Phoros looks awesome! I would vote for the wrist mounted inferno pistol, looking forward to seeing more!

Thanks for the nice comment and weighing in on the inferno-pistol thing. Hes in too many pieces to test both out at the moment (too fiddly while bluetaced), but so far I think I will use the arm-mounted one like you said.

Nice work; love the kitbashes in the main squad, they add a lot of dynamism. Your Phoros is off to a great start as well!

Thanks alot! Phoros will be getting a equally dynamic squad. I think it will look great. Not sure if Ill do a command squad (for shields), honour guard, vanguard veterans or a unit of sternguard with combi weapons. The plan has always been sternguard, but now Im thinking I would like a couple of storm shields, and weapons that benefit from hatred a bit better. Advice is welcome!
