Garro and his Deep Strike rule

Firstly, no.

He cannot Deep Strike with a unit outside of vehicle. He doesn't have the Deep Strike special rule, and units Deep Striking must have the Deep Strike special rule.

However, he can Deep Strike from his special rule, but ironically, he'll disqualify himself if he joins a unit.

Sounds a bit counter intuitive, but the parsing accurately comes as that.

Before everyone comes in screaming murder because it doesn't make sense, i can't see people (or myself) playing that because RACSD (rules as common sense dictates).

Finally, every reference to Garro's ability is when charging Garro, not Garro and his unit.

That is a definition the FW team are unaware of and apparently do not care enough to learn, and we don't know what the Guys think, so there is no RAI, and RACSD can be read one way or another depending on your verdict.

So, to do the new horse crap FW email answer, I'm shrugging my shoulders, and suggesting you do as you agree to houserule.

Personally? I don't see how an Agent of the Emperor is able to request just any old dudes from a legion of a possibly questionable loyalty, inaugrate them with super sekrit emperor eyes only tech and then deploy in that manner.

I read it as that also, if he is with a unit of errants that come out, and have the possibility of the rule too, then maybe.

It doesn't say anywhere it confers to a unit he's with, or that the unit he joins must have deep strike. Just about him.

Although why you'd want to deploy him like that is pretty much beyond me. Aside from getting the line breaker in the corner.

I'd shoot him to death,or over watch him, or many of those things, scorpius, quad mortars etc etc

But he's a cool looking model, I think he's cheaper than sigs and eidolon. And bases are slightly sensible again with luck.

I would love it If you can join a unit to utilize his DS rule. But the rule about IC in the BRB states that special rules are not shared between units and Attached IC unless explicitly stated so. So seems clear it wouldn't work.

But if people want to house rule that you can go for it, that's the beauty of gaming with your friends.
