Marines - "Judgement has come!" The Angels of Judgement are a Space Marine Chapter. They are one of the successor Chapters created during the Third Founding, their progenitors being Imperial Fists and their Primarch Rogal Dorn.HistoryThe Chapter’s origins begin with the Third Founding, decreed by the High Lords of Terra. During this founding, this chapter was taken from members of the Imperial Fists that were a more balanced blend of the stoic nature of the Crimson Fists and the unrelenting zealotry of the Black Templars. The Chapter Master that was selected from the Imperial Fists was Jibriel, now known in the Chapter’s history as Jibriel the First. The Chapter has been a Crusader Fleet since its very inception, learning from their brother Chapters that to recruit from one planet could be dangerous. If that world were to fall, they run the risk of being wiped out as a Chapter, thus ceasing to exist. Therefore the Angels of Judgement have set up Chapter Keeps on worlds they have conquered, where they can resupply and recruit from. For the first eight millennia, the Chapter was noted for participating in the defense of The Imperium during all of the Black Crusades that were unleashed from the Eye of Terror by Abaddon the Despoiler and the Legions of Chaos. Along with their presence during the Black Crusades, they also managed to destroy an Eldar Craftworld that had threatened the Stratteran system that had attempted to invade the system in both m34 and again in m37 when the Chapter succeeded in setting off melta charges in vital areas to cause a chain reaction that resulted in the Craftworld’s destruction. The Eldar were not the only Xenos force the Chapter had dealt with, the Chapter Fleet has come under attack at least once from an Ork Waaagh! which the Chapter had successfully repelled, but not without losing several Battle-Brothers in the process. Records also show the Chapter answered and defended a world that was under siege by Dark Eldar raiders and was able to drive them back into the Webway. As conflicts escalated in the following millennia, the Chapter would see itself pushed harder and more vigilant in their crusades for The Emperor.Doctrine and OrganizationThe Angels of Judgement readily follow the Codex Astartes that was laid out by Roboute Guilliman, Primarch of the Ultramarines Legion. Their only deviation of the Codex occurred during the 41st Millenium when then Chapter Master, Commander Jibriel the Twenty-Second, appointed Librarians Harute and Marute, twin brothers from birth as joint-chiefs of the Librarius. This has brought them under the watchful eye of The Inquisition, specifically members of the Ordo Astartes. Time will only tell if the link these Twin-Brothers have will spell the Chapter’s success or downfall. The Chapter has had close ties to The Imperium and The Inquisition, having contributed Battle-Brothers to the Ordo Xenos’ Deathwatch as members of its Kill-Teams. Like their brother Chapter, the Crimson Fists, they too have been ordered by Terra and the Inquisition to destroy two Chapters that had gone Traitor. While the Chapter was not proud of the fact they had killed Astartes Battle-Brothers, they knew the orders must be carried out for the better of The Imperium as a whole. This has earned them ire with other Chapters of Space Marines, seeing them as just another one of the Inquisition’s lapdogs that was at their beck and call. The Chapter’s main colours is black armour with red shoulders and forearms. Gold trim covers the shoulders and elbows, along with details of the helmet, while their greaves are solid gold in color along with their hands and backpack exhaust ports. Their Chapter symbol is not carried over from the Imperial Fists, rather using the symbol of the Dark Angels, a winged sword to identify themselves as The Emperor’s Angels of Death and Judgement upon their enemies. The Company number is designated on the right knee while the squad number is designated on the left. The Chapter favors the method of Drop Pod Assaults, while still having a full stock of vehicles and tanks, the chapter makes little use of them in favor of deep-strike insertions, relying on Devastator Squads to lay siege to the enemy and Assault Squads to serve as the Chapter’s vanguard.Culture and DispositionThe Culture of the Angels of Judgement follows that of a deeply spiritual Chapter, revering the God-Emperor of Mankind, their Primarch, and the Great Heroes of the Chapter. In every Chapel of their Fortress-Monastery and ships of the Fleet, house 3 large stained-glass windows: The central window depicts The Emperor of Mankind, sitting on the Golden Throne. To the left of The Emperor is the window of Rogal Dorn, their Primarch-Progenitor and Demigod son of The Emeperor. To the right of The Emperor is their first Great Hero, the first Chapter Master, Commander Jibriel the First. The name of Jibriel is also passed down from one Chapter Master to the next, starting with the First Commander Jibriel. As of the 41st Millenium, the current Chapter Master is Commander Jibriel the Twenty-Third, which he inherited after the death of the previous Chapter Master, Jibriel the Twenty-Second. The successor will ceremoniously discard his name and armour in front of the entire Chapter that has assembled, after which a numeral will be branded onto his chest by the Chapter’s Chaplains. After which the Chapter Serfs will adorn the new Chapter Master in the regalia of the Chapter Master, taking up the sacred relic blade, proclaiming himself reborn as Jibriel.RecruitmentEvery 15 Terran years, the Crusade Fleet will return to the Chapter Keeps of the World’s they reside over in a year-long tradition that is known by the world’s inhabitants as the Angel’s Harvest. During this time, all recruits who are of the proper age fight to the death in gladiatorial matches. From those matches, the 50 who are victorious from each chapter keep are taken aboard the Chapter’s Thunderhawk Gunships to the Fortress-Monastery. There the recruits are tested, both physically for genetic compatibility and Psyker potential. The recruits that show Psyker potential are tested further by the Chapter’s Librarians to see if they can they can control their latent Psyker abilities. Those who fail the physical tests are indoctrinated as Chapter Serfs, while those that fail their Psyker testing and those that can’t control their Psyker abilities are mind-scrubbed and handed over to the Techmarines to be made into Servitors.RelicsThere are two noteworthy Relics that are in possession of the Angels of Judgement, both of which are part of the Chapter Master’s Regalia. The first is the Relic Blade Final Verdict, a powerful two-handed power blade that glows a deep blue when the blade is surrounded by its energy field. The other is the Bolt Pistol Last Judgement that is mounted on the Chapter Master’s left gauntlet. This drum-fed Bolt Pistol was masterfully crafted by the Chapter’s Artificers at the Chapter’s Founding to commemorate it. Adorned on the Storm Bolter are Purity Seals that ensure the Machine Spirit of the weapon will never allow the sacred weapon to jam or malfunction.Notable Angels of JudgementCommander Jibriel the First - Founding Chapter Master (dec.) jeremy1391
I like it. Quick question how many recruiting worlds do they have? Taking in only 50 recruits each 15 years seems like a rather small influx of recruits, unless this is per world they recruit from. They visit every world they have a Chapter Keep from (I haven't figured out a reasonable number of worlds they recruit from yet). d36williams
In the Crimson Fists case, they recruit (post disaster) from Rynn's world and dozens of feral worlds in the area. They also will recruit from any feral world they are near by, due to their years as a crusade chapter. So numbers like 20-50 main worlds (very small outposts, lonely temples, holy artifact or grave at a sacred battle field) seem feasible. I'd think the recruiters would be specially tasked ranks of Librarians. So in my mind, the Librarians would broadcast a psychic call heralding their arrival, and speaking to contestants through their minds. Pretty cool thanks for the write up Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316547-successor-chapter-angels-of-judgement/#findComment-4248041 Share on other sites
