Brother Dallo
Hey all, I'd appreciate some input on a list I'm putting together for my Emperor's Children. I haven't purchased everything in the list, so I'm open to some changes. LoW Fulgrim w/ Fireblade -380 HQ Chaplain w/ meltabombs, AA -100 Elites Contemptor w/ Kheres, graviton gun -205 Contemptor w/ Kheres, graviton gun -205 Contemptor Mortis w/ Kheres -180 Apothecary -45 Graviton Rapier (x3) -225 Troops Tactical Squad -150 Tactical Squad AA, Phoenix Spear, Vexilla, Extra CCW (20) -325 Heavy Support Spartan w/ Flare Shield, Dozer Blade, Ceramite Plating -345 Heavy Support Squad w/ Volkite Culverins, Augury Scanner -340 Should come to 2500 points if my maths is right. There are a few upgrades I'm struggling to find points for, such as gear for the Apothecary, AA for sergeants and a few more meltabombs. Is it worth losing the graviton guns from the contemptors, or should I keep it to dead with enemy spartans etc? The Chaplain, big tac squad, apothecary and Fulgrim ride in the spartan. The two CC dreads advance while everything else hangs back and shoots. Any suggestions on what Warlord Trait I should pick? C&C welcome. MorgothNL
Hi there, good to see another EC player! First things first. I noticed that you seem to have 5 elites.. Or did you double type the graviton mortis? I think you are very low on boots. The tacrical squad with fulgrim will be easily avoided in my eyes. To be harsh, I dont think the kist will not perform very well. An army like my EC would defeat you by pure board control. And most other armies (ive come up against) , would just meet you head on and outperform your list. You have very few targets, and you main killing unit is slow and quite easily slowed down or locked in combat with a walker or such. Slips
Use battlescribe with Millicants index. Should make your life a bit easier :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316611-25k-the-choom-iest-of-primarchs/#findComment-4239588 Share on other sites
Memento Of Prospero
The IIIrd legion is not worthy of the gift of Choom. The omnissiah protects, go with the Iron Tenth! Brother Dallo
I'm sure Ferrus Manus felt very protected the last time he bumped into the IIIrd Legion, Wolf_Pack. ;) I used BattleScribe to make the list, I was just unsure of how to copy the text across, Slips. Thanks for the interest guys. MorgothNL, the contemptors were part of a talon, so I believe the list is legal. How would you improve the list? I want to keep the Heavy Support squad, the grav rapiers and Fulgrim. The other stuff I'm less attached to. Surely all Death Stars in Spartans are slow, and they seem to be quite popular in 30k. I am aware that the Spartan is holding nearly half my list, but I feel that if you are taking a Primarch, he needs to be supported. Still, I'm happy to hear any suggestions. What would you reccomend as a retinue for Fulgrim? I want them to be able to sweep, so they can make best use of the sweeping advance buffs, which rules out Terminators. Would it be better to remove Fulgrim altogether? I just got the model, so I'd like to see him get some table time eventually. Thanks again guys. Slips
TO copy across, (on PC) click on the View button on the upper tool bar, select your format with the Drop Down (BBCode in this case) Set options such as: Rules: None Points: Root Profile Summary: None Etc. Then click copy and you can Ctrl-V it into a topic here. The method should be relatively similar on mobile but I haven't tried it. Use the models you want to use, make sure you like the looks and feeling of the army, above any theoretical qualities they may or may not bring. I have about 5 2500pts EC lists myself. 2 include Fulgrim, 2 include Eidolon and 1 includes both + chaplain.. Just because sometimes you have a day that you dont want to leave any of your favorite models on the shelve ;). Personally I just dont like 20 man tactical blobs if not on foot (no, dont make Fulgrim walk ;) ). If you bring a spartan, I would opt to take a more harder hitting unit , for less or the same points. Most alternatives are more fragile, but you have the spartan, so assuming that the spartan will keep them safe, you can assault into combat and manage to not get shoot too much while getting to the next combat, you can take a unit that compliments Fulgrim a bit more. I would then look at veterans (toss some pw in there ans squad wide melta bombs makes sure this unit can take on anything). Cause be carefull, not to get Fulgrim locked in combat with a walker, unless the unit packs mb. Squad wide mb are a huge threat to anything.. Spartans, fellblades. Palatines come to mind too, cause packed with some spears, chaplain and Fulgrim, they make one of the nastiest cc unit out there (assuming you give them shriekers). I've played that same unit a few times. They are fragile after the first combat, but if you position them correctly and use the rest of your army to ensure these guys will live and get things done, they will win you the game turn 3/4. You need to be willing to sacrifice other units, to distract your opponent, and make sure this unit can take out the heart of his army. Getting these guys where they needed to be, and swiping 2 deathstar units off the board in 2 turns, have resulted in some of my most satisfying games. Yet, seeying them shot to pieces due to their silly 3+ armour, has also been recipe for the most frustrating games. But .. Your tactical blob wouldnt do much better vs a. Fire raptor or 10 pyroclast flamers. I still think that phoenix guard should be allowed to sweep, but yes, until that time they just dont fit in a EC army (if they will be your only cc unit). Command squads also work well. They have 2+ armour, can also take the apothecary, can take melta bombs (by now youve noticed I really think that Fulgrim has a huge weaknest in the anti tank department), they can take pw and have the option for ++ saves (though I never give them shields for it makes them too expensive). I think that these options will be much more of a threat and more versatile (for probably the same or less points as your 20 man squad). Though, you need cant be careless with any of these, but if used correctly, i think they have much more uses. Brother Dallo
Thanks for the detailed reply. I really appreciate it. One of the things I like about the tac blob is that it fills a compulsory troops slot. If I wanted to replace Fulgrim's unit with, say vets, I'd only have 150-200 points left to spend on them. Would it be worth doing Pride of the Legion with them? It would give me less bodies, but they'd fill my troop choices. Are your lists on B&C? Cheers.
