Fury_of_Fenris
Hi there just purchased the Battle for Calth boxed set and finally decided on going for my favourite guys the Angels of death I understand the paint scheme to be black but do we know anything else such as markings different shoulder pads/ helmet colours that other legions have and are explained in the large books? Has forge world released any info or are we waiting for the book to be released before finding anything out Im just hesitant that i may not paint some things correctly And i really want to do these dudes correctly Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316645-da-paint-schemes/ Share on other sites
rendingon1+
Book six is not far away (o so they say). If you want your angels "historically accurate" it's better to wait. Here's the spoiler however. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316645-da-paint-schemes/#findComment-4240461 Share on other sites
Malakai
Disciple of the Flames...Hmmm interesting. You know I said I wouldn't do a DA 30K army but throwing some in with my Chaos Marines as Fallen Angels. Betrayal at Calth makes sense because they're fighting each other. Grrr..must stay on point. Anyway that looks really cool. Do you know if they're doing a Lion El'Johnson model? depthcharge12
Barely anything is known, but I run my with a brassy/gold shoulder trim which looks way better than the silver trim. The silver makes them look like iron hands. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316645-da-paint-schemes/#findComment-4240571 Share on other sites

Saphrael
Book six is not far away (o so they say). If you want your angels "historically accurate" it's better to wait. The problem is we don't know if book six will have much by the way of colour schemes or background info. We know BA, DA and WS are not getting the full legion treatment (i.e. no primarch rules or unique HQ/units) so I think it's safe to assume we won't be getting the full background, structure and colour scheme info either. There will be some, but there just won't be enough room in the book for the kind of detail the other legions have received. The feedback on book six thus far has been that it's much more like Conquest in that it's a general book with content for all/most legions, rather than being dedicated to a select few. If book seven is still Prospero then we could be waiting for book eight (at the earliest) to get detailed background, primarch rules and unique legion HQ/units for the DA. I'd be surprised if we saw book eight before mid 2017. Of course this is all speculation. Well reasoned speculation, but speculation none-the-less. Slips
Conquest has art for Imperial Fists so make of that what you will Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316645-da-paint-schemes/#findComment-4240871 Share on other sites
Corswain
Only other things we have are covers for Black Library novels - black armour, white shoulder pads, which I personally love as it seperates them from the rest of the black legions. Unremembered Empire paints a picture of quite convoluted markings and symbols for the Ist Legion so really, as long as the armour is black, you can probably do what you want. So let us hope it will be like Conquest Sons of Horus/Death Guard (legions with their own book) got a couple of colour scheme panels, Markings and Heraldry included. Standard tactical legionnaire and terminator arts + markings and heraldry (most important) are a solid base for painting an army. Just curious what legion specific equipment DA will get - I think there are two possibilities. 1. Order/knight themed items and I'd expect some kind of sword, trophy from Beast Hunting days, mayby a pet Watcher in the Dark (that would be stupid). 2. First Legion items - being the First means they had acces to much more old tech/relic stuff than the rest so... paragon blades/archeo pistols for everyone. Or somethong like that. Plausible? depthcharge12
Shameless plugging of the highest magnitude: http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac316/treacyjohn2/edee3774b284503b07e7c8fc680d37ef_zpsrspwjwqw.jpg http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac316/treacyjohn2/9c94b1c855e92061103d0cccce7ecba9_zpsc28e442d.jpg I personally prefer the white pad also because I feel that the current FW scheme looks too similiar to the Iron Hands. MikhalLeNoir
White pad is the better choice. And beer as background is even better ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316645-da-paint-schemes/#findComment-4241452 Share on other sites
depthcharge12
White pad is the better choice. And beer as background is even better ;) It's a great painting medium. Instead of thinning my paint I thin my blood :P But those pics are old news...I'm still waiting for the Dark Angels to get a Dreadwing option. I'd really hate it if we get BS2 on overwatch as I'd rather have assault bonuses.
