The Rallying of Trugoy

A National 30K Event Series

The Rallying of Trugoy is a series of Narrative driven 30K Horus Heresy events being hosted throughout Australia in 2016. Each state (well most of them!) will be running an event based in the same System (Trugoy) with the results and narrative of previous events carrying over to future events.

Game Formats:

Unlike the current 40K system the 30K system has introduced a number of alternate formats which work seamlessly together with the same collection of models. In addition to that, most of the campaigns in the Horus Heresy books actually encourage the use of the different formats in various stages of the campaign. Already groups around the world have started experimenting with different formats and points as well as including not only Zone Mortalis and Tactical Strike games but also Specialist games like Battlefleet Gothic and Epic!

Each event in the Rallying of Trugoy series will be different to a certain extent; some events may focus exclusively on Age of Darkness style games while another may be all Zone Mortalis while some may be a combination of as many formats as possible. So too will the numbers vary from state to state based on the event organisers plans and available facilities, so keep a close eye on the events as they become scheduled because a few of these in the series will have very limited places.

Irrelevant of the size and format though, each game will contribute towards the overall Systems future in terms of which force, Traitor or Loyalist, will come to control the area. All of this will be tracked and displayed through the AUS30K.com website, allowing players to link their armies to the games and contribute their own fluff.

Dog Tag Battle Honours:

Like a lot of the events being run around Australia, and even some internationally, the Rallying of Trugoy will be using the Dog Tag Battle Honours event tokens. These event tokens come in the form of customised dog tags bearing the faction emblem you played for, a short description of the event and a special effect. This tag is ‘attached’ to the army you played (not the player themselves) on the day and represents the forces battle honours and experience gained from taking part in that particular phase of a campaign.

When you play with the same army in other events using the Battle Honours system, you can use the special effects on any Dog Tags which that army has accumulated at previous events, up to one tag for every 500 points being played with. These effects are often very small things, giving access to a reroll or a small upgrade, but are meant to represent the theme of the battle in which they were earned and adds character to that army and its history. The more events you take your armies to, the more Tags you will collect!

Campaign Setting: Trugoy

The Trugoy system is a largely unremarkable Imperial outpost in a slowly developing Sub-Sector. While not as prosperous as the Sub-Sectors governing System, Centrumeh, it is considerably better off than most of the back water colonies in the other systems.

The Systems capital and namesake, Trugoy, is a large desert planet dominated by a number of highly fortified Hive cities dating back to the pre-crusade era when the local human tribes warred against each other over the planets limited resources. After being brought to Compliance through a swift six month campaign in which the dominating hive was targeted by the Crusade Fleet causing the remaining factions to quickly capitulate, the System was earmarked for significant development.

The first step was the establishment of Nestro, a modest sized orbital shipyard around the systems gas giant Fuhn. While incapable of producing the large class of Battleships, the shipyard was geared towards the production of smaller escort and light Cruiser class warships and, more importantly, the ability to rapidly repair and refit existing ships. Being so close to the frontier Nestro quickly became a frequent way point for damage ships from Crusade fleets close to the Sub-Sector.

To assist with the expansion of the shipyards role, a small Mechanicum force established a series of deep mining platforms, refineries and storage yards on the frozen death world of Impasse after the discovery of extensive Promethium deposits within the planet. These facilities quickly boosted the Systems trade and traffic resulting in a significant increase in the Mechanicums presence on the world in order to ensure the smooth running on the refineries and mining operations.

A polluted and ruined planet, Grox was the Systems primary manufacturing source well before compliance. Hundreds of primitive factories produce civilian goods for both the Trugoy and neighbouring systems, long ago having destroyed the planets environment, although initial analysis would indicate that the current level of production would have been nowhere near that required to create the damage caused. The next step of the Systems expansion was the proposed expansion to the industrial facilities on Grox, however with the onset of the Heresy this has been shelved.

The system itself has no known affiliations with any of the Legions, its Compliance being undertaken by a splinter of the 375th Crusade Fleet made up of Imperial Army regiments. Even still the Governor was one of the first in the Sub-Sector to reaffirm his pledge of loyalty to the Emperor and Terra.

Trugoy

Style:                     Hive World – Largely urban with fortified Desert areas plus some Underhive

Warzones:             Zone Mortalis, Age of Darkness, Epic

Fluff:                      The system capital and Primary landing site of the regrouping Loyalist forces, the planet is largely a hive world with heavily fortified desert wastes. The Governor was one of the first Systems                                 in the Sub-Sector to reaffirm his loyalty with the Emperor when the Heresy became known and as such became a beacon for the regrouping Loyalist forces.

Impasse

Style:                     Death World – Ice planet with Promethium refineries and storage yards

Warzones:             Zone Mortalis, Age of Darkness, limited Epic

Fluff:                     A frozen death world home to the Systems secondary export; Promethium. Managing the refineries and mining operations is a large Mechanicum contingent from Retlaxi which was recently                                  expanded to accommodate an increase in storage and production. Due to the Tech Priests home Forge World and its suspected siding with Horus, the coven’s loyalties are currently                                              unknown.

Grox

Style:                     Forge World – Wasteland planet with Urban Manufactory pockets and ruins

Tables:                  Zone Mortalis, Age of Darkness, limited Epic

Fluff:                      A polluted and ruined planet dominated by low key manufacturing plants producing civilian goods for the system and its neighbors.

Orbital shipyard Nestro

Style:                     Naval Shipyard – Series of orbital shipyards and control stations

Tables:                  Zone Mortalis, BFG

Fluff:                     Orbiting the unstable Gas Giant Fuhn, the Nestro Shipyards are the Systems most valued commodity. The ability to refit small to medium class ships proved a valuable resource during the                                    Great Crusade and now with the civil war erupting, an even greater bargaining chip for both sides. Unlike most other locations, neither faction wishes for these facilities to be destroyed and will                              be using small strike forces to gain control.

Warzone/Campaign Book

Another exciting aspect of the event series is that the entire campaign will be documented and compiled into a Campaign Book. It will contain the history of the system, its compliance, the wars fought over the planets (based on the events), major events which take place, forces involved in the conflict (players armies) along maps, artwork and portraits. In addition at the end of each event two players will be selected to have their Warlord published in the book as special characters!

The book will be available for free at the end of the campaign as a PDF but will also be able to be printed as a hard covered, full colour printed book. The intention is for the book to act as not only a memento for those who took part in the national campaign, but also as a great piece of fan fiction which includes custom scenarios and key battles played during the series.
