Kalen had already killed two word bearers. The first a grim champion he had hamstrung whilst he fought one of braggs men, then beheaded him with his chainglaive. The second was a chaplain of some kind who very nearly killed kalen by talking him to death, with impassioned prayers dedicated to dark powers. In the end he'd buried his flaying knife in his throat and silenced the corrupted fool for good. The opponent that faced him now was a different proposition altogether. A contemptor dreadnought, containing the remains of a hero of the word bearers legion.

He fired his nanyte blaster at the huge machine hoping to score a lucky shot, however it had no effect. He leapt forward dodging the return fire from the assault cannon and rolling low brought his glaive up to sever the power cables to the great gun, silencing it. He saw the huge power fist swinging around and leapt backwards out of reach before realising he'd been out maneuvered by the ancient warrior. Instead of the blow he thought he'd avoided the fist stopped mid swing and opened its digits revealing the dreadnoughts heavy bolter which promptly shot him in the head.

Kalen tore what remained of his ruined helm from his face as he attempted to scramble to his feet. The shot had hit off centre but ravaged his helm and face beneath. His face was covered in blood and one eye had been destroyed by shrapnel from his own helm. As his suit flooded pain soothing balms into his system he heard a strange grating noise. It was coming from the dreadnought striding towards him. Good thought kalen at least i damaged him before i died. As the machine closed he realised with anger that the noise was the occupant of the machines laughter being transmitted through his speakers. He was laughing at the damage he had wrought. Struggling to his feet kalen revved his chainglaive "you think this is funny? For that i will make you scream, corpse"
