Plasmablasts
In Grey Knight fluff, it's hinted that some of their unique materiel is of Xenos origin (e.g. Psilencers, Dreadknights). Indeed, it seems likely that they have acquired Tesseract Labyrinths from the Necrons. If so, this acquisition is presumably happening during the Heresy under the auspices of Malcador but I haven't read anything yet to indicate that. Has anyone seen anything relevant? Is this likely to be covered in the HH series? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316841-malcador-and-dealings-with-xenos/ Share on other sites
Calas Typhon
It would probably be linked to the Inquisition under the years proceeding the death of Malcador in all honesty. The Inquisition simply do not care about using anything weapon related if it will cause no harm to the Imperium judging from some of the books I have read. Sometimes they don't care if it does. Plasmablasts
I don't know whether the GK had all of their specialist kit available from the start, i.e. before the hiding of Titan. I've always assumed they did, but it's possible some items came later. Malcador's quartet of proto-Inquisitors was founded at the same time as the eight first Grand-Masters, so the =][= didn't really have time to do this before Titan was concealed. He would have had other agents though, including the Knight Errants. There could be some interesting stories to come from the culture shock of an Astartes adjusting from the Great Crusade mindset to actually having to negotiate with Xenos. Rob P
There was the Jorgall thing in Flight of the Eisenstein Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316841-malcador-and-dealings-with-xenos/#findComment-4246033 Share on other sites
Plasmablasts
Jorgall? Were they the Xenos that the DG and Sisters of Silence were deployed against? I infer from that they must have been psykers, but I can't recollect the details (long time since I read it). Rob P
Yeah, I read it a long time ago, but I vaguely recall the Sisters of Silence smuggled a juvenile one off to Terra on orders. I would speculate that fiddling with xenos would be a Malcador thing. Tenuous. but there are possibilities Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316841-malcador-and-dealings-with-xenos/#findComment-4246090 Share on other sites
Plasmablasts
Thanks for that. Pondering this, I increasingly feel that it's likely that Malcador and presumably the Emperor had been working on the Grey Knight project from before the onset of the Heresy, possibly as part of the Emperor's web-way project. Pulling together all the arcane tech (and all the orher aspects) in just seven years seems...daunting, even for someone of Malcador's capacity. Father Mehman
I would think all throughout the Great Crusade there were quite a few artefacts stolen from other races in the galaxy. Archaeotech Pistols, Prohibited Munitions, etc. To think they did all that in seven years boggles my mind ! No doubt they had that long to find the people that would become the Inquisition and the legionaries that would found the Grey Knights. Then, going by the last two Codices, Daemonhunters, and Witch Hunters, the Grey Knights had progressed- and I may be off on the number- a few hundred to a thousand years during their time on Titan when they were hidden in the Warp. How no one noticed that a planet-sized moon was missing beats the hell out of me. Anywho, the Grey Knights had all that time to fiddle about with the arcane technology until it became weaponized.
