TemujinZero
They're clearly designed for the mk3 despoiler squad, and it's silly that they don't just include the extra bits. You'll be left with lots of spare parts that you can sprinkle into your other squads. If you have old 40K marine parts lying around and you don't mind dirtying your pure 30K force with a bit of 40K plastic you can get some value out of them. Even if you're a resin purist there's lots of extra bits. My IF force is designed specifically to put to use my old 40K stuff that I wouldn't otherwise bother with, and I got as much out of the kit as possible. I ended up with 7 Templars and enough bits to add bling to a command squad. Spinsanity
While the upgrade kit + basic marines makes the templars/warder kits expensive, they are cheap compared to other upgrade kits : A IF upgrade bundle, mat £44, includes heads, chests and pads fo 10 marines. For the same price you can get two templar kits which includes just as many heads and chests, but also includes 10 extra pads, shields and swords... More expensive than palatine blades or reavers, yeah, but still a great item nonetheless... And at £34 + £22 for despoilers + templar kit, they're still less expensive than suzerains and you end up with a fair bunch of extra bits! d@n
Personally j would go with the iron hands kit, just because they look awesome and you can add all the spar bits into the rest of your army Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316951-best-choice-for-templar-bretheren-legs-and-arms/#findComment-4247583 Share on other sites
TemujinZero
If you go for a bolter armed kit you'll need to do some fairly heavy work on the arms or end up with some dodgy poses. d@n
There's only 2x pairs of arms in the holding a bolter position in the iron hand kit, and if you sell of all the bits you don't need you can easily buy a the bolt pistols and extra arms you need Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316951-best-choice-for-templar-bretheren-legs-and-arms/#findComment-4248635 Share on other sites
Brother Achiles
I have a mkii despoiler kit, I guess they would do the job but how would they look ? Lord Blackwood
prolly fairly close to the mk iii bodies ,you really just need some legs with motion showing and the straight arm bits for you to put the shields on. TemujinZero
It will look mostly identical to the mkiii equivalent. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316951-best-choice-for-templar-bretheren-legs-and-arms/#findComment-4249302 Share on other sites
Brother Achiles
Ok great stuff. will use what I have then. Have heard mixed reports about Templar bretheren, mostly that it would be better to take some terminators with vigil pattern storm shields instead. Thoughts on this ? Marshal Rohr
Unless you add spacers mark 2 legs on mark 3 torsos look too skinny. Mark 3 only really works with mark 3. Have heard mixed reports about Templar bretheren, mostly that it would be better to take some terminators with vigil pattern storm shields instead. Thoughts on this ? I like both units , Templar are a lot of fun with sigismund because they get the +1 initative and hit at str 5 ap 3 on the charge ( you will need a land raider ) That being said Sigismund + Terminators is also solid Vigil Shields and Thunder Hammers are great but youll need a spartan for this unit Terminators tend to be better at helping Sigismund hunt the enemy warlord which is what you want him to be doing , though I find Templar brethren are fine WITHOUT sigismund at just destroying groups of 3+ save marines I would say build both units cause both are very fun Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316951-best-choice-for-templar-bretheren-legs-and-arms/#findComment-4249337 Share on other sites
Brother Achiles
Ok great, have a land raider I was considering putting sigusmand and terms in. Got a unit of normal thunderhammer terms I use with my Templars that might just convert up abit. Slips
Sigi+Termies wouldnt fit in a Land Raider because it only has 10 slots unless you used a 4 man TDA command Squad. But at that point your paying for a fearless bubble from the standard that the squad doesnt benefit from due to Sigismunds Fearless.
