Vulpine
Hold up people... I know, it sounds stupid!!! When I was younger I used bits in my dads garage and often, it looked so bad... Most likely due to skill as well as the product. But, when 3rd ed came out, the first space marine box set I got, I used a car spray and it was perfect. It had a glitter in it, not like large flakes, just a slight twinkle if you look close. It was also a satin so wasn't to glossy as most car paints are. Can anyone recommend or advice... I want a dark blue with a slight glitter to it. Or am I talking rubbish????? Brother Dallo
I've heard of people using grey car paint spray from Halfords before as an undercoat, so it's doable. That said, I've never personally done it, or seen the results. GrandMagnus
I have used white car spray in the past. It works but I would always recommend asking the people in the store first since there are a lot to choose from. Stercus
I use car spray paint for all my undercoating. There's a link in my sig to my WIP thread, there's a few examples there of the finish it gives. CommodusXIII
I use sandable automotive primer. Finishing paints should work as well - I just can't speak from experience. I always recommend treating test models first, just to be sure. Dallo I use both the Halfords white and grey for most models, and I accidentally bought and started using a metallic red for my Flesh Tearers Space Hulk models. I've found their paint to be cheaper, less likely to clog, gives a more even coat and you get more in the can for the price Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316974-car-spray-paint-on-models/#findComment-4248169 Share on other sites
Vulpine
Any one know a make that does a dark blue with a tiny glint to it? Like glitter or pearlescent ? Vulpine
Yeah, dose it have a slight glitter/sparkle/pearlescent look? Problem is, even the lids or colour cards don't look like what actually comes out the nozel. CommodusXIII
It's a pearl, so it should have some metallic sheen to it. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316974-car-spray-paint-on-models/#findComment-4249546 Share on other sites
Vulpine
Well, I sprayed my night lords black. Then I did a light spray of dark blue, then a second light spry with a Halfords Dak blue matalic (£7 for 300mls) for cars. Was worried that due to it being matalic, hight lighting and such would look odd, but it appears to be working so far! Burias-Drak'shal
I've used the grey and white primer from halfords and find they work great.
