netminder69
So in between the 5 million other projects I have going on, I have decided to start a DIY White Scars successor chapter. I don't have a ton of info for them yet, however, the inspiration came heavily from the song Ghost Riders in the Sky, Firefly with just a touch of Mad Max: Fury Road. Color Scheme: http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee260/netminder69/spacemarine%201.jpg Company color will be on the left knee pad. Sergeants will have a chrome helmet. Vets and Commanders, etc will also have a chrome arm instead of white. Lots of chrome on the bikes and speeders. Chapter symbol: http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee260/netminder69/Ghost%20Riders.jpg Fitting with the Western theme, all bolt pistols will be bolt revolvers (from Anvil Industries): http://www.anvilindustry.co.uk/image/cache/data/a-new/rifles_pistols/revolver-400x400.jpg And for those without helmets on (from Puppets War): http://puppetswar.eu/img/p/116-438-thickbox.jpg Also some good fantasy skulls from Tabletop Art that would be good for mounting as trophies on bikes. Just got a box of bikes, so I will be doing some mock ups soon. Background wise, their home planet is very American West themed. Think Firefly-like planets. codyrstuart
I demand to see a mock up ASAP! That's probably one of the coolest ideas Ive ever heard. Quixus
Yippee-I-aye, yippee-I-o I really like the idea. Maybe Wild West Exodus can provide some bike alternatives: http://www.wildwestexodus.com/union-iron-horse-light-support/ http://www.wildwestexodus.com/lawmen-interceptor-light-support/ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316988-ghost-riders-diy-white-scars-successor/#findComment-4248294 Share on other sites
Noctem Cultor
Interesting concept I look forward to seeing the idea come to life. netminder69
I thought about the WWX bikes, but their riders are positioned differently so I don't know if the Marine models would fit easily. I will still try to look into it. On the other hand, I'm thinking of using this one as my Chapter Master (from Scibor): http://sciborminiatures.com/i/2012/big/angel_bike_3_01.jpg Also Outrider bikes from Forgeworld: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/resources/catalog/product/600x620/99590101305_LegionMkIVOutriderSquadron01.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316988-ghost-riders-diy-white-scars-successor/#findComment-4248604 Share on other sites
Quixus
Yeah, If I had kidneys to spare, the outrider bikes would be my fist choice as well. ;) Is it just me or do the outrider bikes not have headlights? netminder69
The out rider bikes actually aren't that bad. A set of three cost 45 pounds. Only works out to about $20-$25 more then a box set of regular bikes. Not to make the whole army with them but just throw a few in it's not bad. netminder69
Well, I needed to get and test some chrome paint first. This is a chrome laquer spray by Alclad II. I think it looks pretty good. I'll go with this. http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee260/netminder69/2015-12-10%2017.29.23.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316988-ghost-riders-diy-white-scars-successor/#findComment-4248976 Share on other sites

codyrstuart
Only issue I see is that the paint appears to be a little thick on the rim of the left shoulder. Ive also heard that some chrome or metallic paints may not hold paint. Have you tried painting on this basecoat before? netminder69
That was just a test spray. I haven't before so I am going to test a bit further. It feels about as smooth as Army Painter primer, so I am anticipating it to be similar. CaptainStabby
The flaming skull heads from Puppetswa could be a good match too, maybe too chaotic though. Quixus
It seems that Johnny Cash himself did not do it consistently. I prefer the ay oh version.
