The_Chaplain
Does anyone have recommendations and/or pictures for what size bases to use for basing both thunderfire cannons and rapier weapon chassis? I'd like to fit both the weapon and the gunner(s) on the one base if at all possible. Thanks! Atia
I'm going to use bases for my tarantulas, will try to get a picture of how it would look if you want (i use one of their newer bases - 80mm? not sure, it fits in ZM though) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316998-basing-artillery/#findComment-4249093 Share on other sites
Athrawes
Here is my WIP rapier. I'm basing it on a 60mm dreadnought base, seems pretty perfect in terms of size. http://i1088.photobucket.com/albums/i327/nickfayette1/e516fa09-aaa8-4dbc-99a2-0235f1f1b5b4.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316998-basing-artillery/#findComment-4249144 Share on other sites
Jarl of Wulfen
Here's the thunderfire and gunner on an ironstrider base http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/gallery/image/171733-thunderfire/ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316998-basing-artillery/#findComment-4249171 Share on other sites

I'm going to use bases for my tarantulas, will try to get a picture of how it would look if you want (i use one of their newer bases - 80mm? not sure, it fits in ZM though) Sure, I'd definitely be interested in that Atia. From what I can tell Rapiers are close to tarantulas in size. @Athrawes: definitely something to consider, thanks for the picture! sockwithaticket
Tarantulas have a much wider footprint than the Rapier, it's deceptive. I remember when I was measuring my Tarantulas up for bases I was planning on using 80mm rounds but from the tip of one leg to the other (diagonally) is 80mm, so it wouldn't have been comfortable.I went for 120 x 95 ovals so that there was a enough space to turn each one into a mini diorama (eventualy, when I clear some of my backlog...).Just did a quick measurement and Rapiers are 36mm wide. I've ordered some 60 x 100 ovals from Dragonforge to use. Having seen them on 60mm rounds they fit, but I'd like a little extra room to play with. that said I'll be keeping the second crewman on his own base. I reckon you could get both the Rapier and crewman on foot onto a 100mm round. but you might like to go a little bigger if you don't want them to be cramped.
