Canadian_F_H
There is no arguement there. This is more of an interest than a viable strategy. Tho I can see it having some use with quick cheap objective grabbers, vehicle spam, etc... Maybe best suited to units you really want mobile and can't wait on scatter lasers... Weird vain psykers perhaps... Melta cidal squads... Ulrik_Ironfist
The guard does need some cheaper transport though. Points reductions would be nice, and maybe the Taurox should be a 35-40 point transport with the Taurox prime being 55-60 and the chimera being about the same. I think that if the taurox were considerably cheaper in points and if the kit were cheaper we'd see them used more often. I'm actually tempted to make my own tauroxes out of rhino boxes and leftover autocannons from HWS boxes. Just pintle mount the autocannons,or make a plasticard mount for them. Canadian_F_H
Yeah Taurux rules aren't so bad, I just can't stand the models... Or the military tempestus scions models for that matter... Perhaps a rhino conversion would do the trick... Ulrik_Ironfist
The taurox actually looks pretty good if you get a wheel kit for it, there are a few I've seen some are 4x4's others are 6x6's. Have a look see at it that way. I actually kind of like the Taurox, specifically the prime, it's pretty good at being killy and since C:MT can take them as fast attack you can take a couple and put your infantry squads in them, or give them to vets for a fast melta squad. Canadian_F_H
Well I'll admit after a quick Google fu session that the Taurux looks much better with wheels... And a half track version wouldn't be too bad if somebody could find a better looking track for the back half... Again no offense to anyone who likes the Taurux, is really not for me... Is prefer a light APC/IFV. So rhinos razorbacks and chimeras are enough for me... Tho I might look into a special turret for rhinos as a counts as Taurux... Ulrik_Ironfist
It's not a terrible vehicle, just overcosted for what it does, and the model is kind of ugly, though I like the MRAP look it has... sebs_evo7
Doing mraps would be a sick counts as or if your skilled with the hobby knife converting a taurox Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/316999-strange-army-list/page/2/#findComment-4251703 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Taurox needs a bit of work to look good in my opinion, and my only complaint rules wise is that it costs too much. Both base and for upgrades, I don't think it ever really stood a chance against the Chimera coming out as it stands. Both base and for upgrades, I don't think it ever really stood a chance against the Chimera coming out as it stands. It needs to cost much less, it needs a 15-20 point reduction, because lets face it a built in dozer blade (all terrain APC) and an autocannon is hardly powerful when it has paper thin armor. And for 15 points more you get better armor, 2 more models capacity, more weapons, and command vehicle. The chimera is just better. The taurox prime also needs a points reduction, say to 50 points, because for all it offers, it's still flimsy and dies to bolter fire. Ulrik_Ironfist
transports? what is this strange word you use,the guard have feet. Never run when you can walk, never walk when you can ride. The ride offers you the chance to actually make it to your objective. In a shooting heavy meta foot slogging troops wither and die. Ulrik_Ironfist
I think I might have found an instance where I'd put my guard in Rhinos. In my recent lists, I've been using DKoK rules, taking krieg grenadiers. The Storm chimera is expensive, so I give them rhinos to ride in, which should let me get them up the board quickly, since they're being covered by vindicators and dreads as they advance. Then the Air Assault component rolls in and deposits more grenadiers into the fight. Combined arms at it's finest. Ulrik_Ironfist
The other idea I had was to use the Rhinos to transport the DKoK infantry platoon squads around, since they can't take transport. That way I can get them up the board more rapidly, where they can hop out and fire, then next turn they can pop their Assault order (their lasguns and laspistols become Assault 2 12" and they gain crusader) then they pile into combat and likely die, but I'd take forlorn hope and get them back when the platoon gets annihilated, which it would, mostly because I'd be dropping pie plates danger close.
