Forgeworld Horus Heresy Character series figures

I was wondering if these figures are meant to be used in a game or just display pieces. Reason I ask I just picked up a Roboute Guilliman Figure off of ebay for cheap as it was just the figure no fancy base or anything else. I was thinking I could use it with my army but its a half inch bigger than the terminators than came in the BoC box is this normal? For some reason I pictured the Primarch being terminator sized humans. If this is correct do his rules come in book 5.

Sorry for the newbie qustions

They can be either. The Character Series normally come with display bases with an inset regular gaming base that allows them to be removed from the display base and played in games. Not all the Character Series come with display bases though.

You got a Primarch figure, and the Primarchs are supposed to be a few heads taller than their sons, sometimes even the Terminators in full armour, so that's correct. Normally he actually does come with a display base too, but he'll be fine without it.

And yes, his rules are in Book V: Tempest smile.png

Size-wise, Primarchs are to Astartes as Astartes are to normal humans. There is variation though with Alpharius/Omegon apparently able to pass themselves off as bigger-built Astartes.

Dan Abnett plays rather nicely with the relative scales with the furniture in Roboute Guilliman's office, which has to accommodate all three builds, potentially creating optical illusions of distorted perspective (see Unremembered Empire).

Just checking you've seen a Primarch's stats.

Compared to say a Talos, or a Carnifex? Angron with his 8 WS9 S8 AP2 Armourbane Attacks which cause ID on a 6 to wound? Vulkan with his S8 AP3 Blast Melee attack. Horus with his 8-10 S10 AP2 Concussive Attacks or S7 Shred AP2 Attacks. Fulgrim with his 8 S7 AP2 Attacks...

Unfortunately you've probably purchased an illegal re-cast.

Is he on a regular sized base or the display one?

So you saw the battle report thread where Horus died fighting legionnaires right? Legionnaires (eventually) can put primarchs down. Snotlings can't touch MC's

Edit:sorry for the off topic

No.

Link please.

See how much of a potato this guy was.

  • 2 weeks later...

Does anyone know what base you would put him on He cam glued to a plain terminator base  and I am not sure if he should be on a terminator base or something bigger as I would like to transfer him to a scenic base of some sort.

Thanks in advance.

Exactly how did this happen?

Let's assume he's in combat with a full 20 man unit.

He would kill probably 6 before they got to attack. The remainder would land 7 attacks on him, wounding on a 6 which means probably 1 wound, and he has a 2+ save and IWND.

I really don't think standard marines will be putting any Primarch down.

Due to the poor detail of the writing (nit that the report itself was bad, it just badly detailed) it's hard to make sense of what happened.

So, all we have to knowledge is a recon squad, at WS4, of 5-10 men was able survive at least 6, possibly 10 S7 Shred AP2 attacks at I6, and retaliate and kill Horus, who is at 5 wounds.

Fair, Horus may have fluffed his attacks and not killed anything. I've done it with Curze, and I've watched Angron have every single attack bounce off a Breacher Squad.

But to take 5 wounds from at most 30 attacks (10 man squad, 2CCW's, Charging, no lost models), hitting on 4's, wounding on 6's, and failed saves on a 1, you have to understand that you will need have around 360 such attacks to do that in one phase. And that is assuming no IWND saves are made.

There are unexpected things, such as the time when my Dreadclaw managed to nuke three quaeters of a battle line thanks to triggering a glance with its heat blast, after scattering wildly, rolling 6" for range and catching the rear of a Malcador Infernus, the Strength D hit triggering a chain explosion which all told killed nearly 800pts of stuff.

Mathematically small chances are as good as impossibilities, which while a slight imprecision on my part (hey look, you've got yourself Internet points for proving someone wrong guys! Good show), is as good as.

Plus, lets not talk about that time a regular Ork opponent of mine's Gretchin killed a Pain Engine. Or took 2 wounds off Belakor before needing to be rescued by Slaanesh Claw Terms.

...one of the recon marines was... (dunh! Dunh! DUNH!) Alpharius biggrin.png
