New to 30k and Mechanicum

Recommended Posts

Greetings, picked up a bargain on some Mechanicum through a mate love the models, not played a lot of 30k, my current primary 30/40K army is daemons

so after some help or ideas to shape this collection of models into a viable force

the models I have are:

Archmagos Draykavac

3 MECHANICUM MYRMIDON SECUTORS they they were destroyed by some terrible conversion attempts so not actual axe arms, was gonna use one as an HQ with a pair of phased plasmas?

3 Castellan with bolt cannons

12 Thallax, 1 has a melta 1 has a photon thruster

Thanatar (love the model)

6 Myrmidon Destructors (love these guys rules)

Land raider from my marines

base plan is there will be my loyalist force.

so a couple of questions;

how do you not end up spending 300 points plus on your arch magos? love the idea of running him with a pair of phases plasmas and leaving him to wrech face, but just so many options!

My SECUTORS may be junk models but the destructors just seem to have better rules anyway

Thallax? 6 3 3 or 2 of 6?

was thinking of puttung the Destructors in the said land raider 4 or 5 of them couple of engines and the rest Volkite?

Hey Backslide! Welcome to the cool kids' club.

A couple of things answer your questions.

1.) 300pt Archmagos - Honestly, it's best to embrace it and build a good one. There is not much in the game short of a Primarch that is meaner than a Magos loaded for space-bear. My advice would be to pick one that will support your list well. If you want to repair those Secutors and have a melee element, try a Myrmidax Magos. If you want some heavy artillery support, an Ordinatus would serve you well.

2.) The Secutors and Destructors are good at different things. If you've ever wanted to crumple a Primarch like a beer can though, give Graviton Imploder destructors a try. You won't be disappointed.

3.) In Heresy, you typically get a bit of a points discount when you buy additional squad members. With the Thallax, you're paying 135 for three, but only 120 to add three more to an existing squad. Math says two squads of six, but again, it depends on what you'd like to accomplish with them.

4.) Keep in mind if your Myrmadons are in a transport, they aren't shooting ^_^

Anywho, if you can give us a bit of an idea of what type of Amy you'd like to aim for (gun line, heavy armor, deep strike assault etc...) it'd defs help us get you sorted.

Enjoy your time in the AoD!

style wise I like to have a combo of shooting and close combat, mobility is good the Thallax look like they may well suit me down to the ground, contemplating giving my Magos an abant jetpack and run him with them fully kitted up

maybe drop the raider and just run 2 units of 3/4 destructors
