I've been thinking of a new set of fluff challenges for the new year: have you noticed how a good deal of unit types and universal special rules are only applied to a smattering of models in 40k or 30k ?

This is where the challenges come in: the objective would be to invent units fielded by the Imperium of Man (or the Archtraitors of Chaos...) applying a chosen rule, and write up a few short paragraphs about it.

For instance, when working on the "Chariots" challenge, somebody working with the Imperial Guard may create a regiment of rough riders that have light chariots linked to horses, with heavy bolters strapped on top. A Blood Angels Legion player might however create a special unit of Jetbike chariots. Though the possibilities are not endless, I think the combined creativity of the LIBER ASTARTES might have some pretty neat ideas :)

Since the descriptions of the different creations would ideally be rather short (no need to write up a whole Index Astartes), each challenge could be completed in a shortish period, about 2 weeks for example.

So, what do you think of this proposal ? Could it interest anybody ?

I'd say purely fluff for the moment, but I'm just one voice among many, so if there's more pEople who want to create rules then that's what we could do

The purpose of this thread is to see if anybody would be interested in this kind of thing, and to hammer out the rules in that case :)

Actually, this could even be a series of team challenges, mixing several parts of the Bolter and Chainsword, to forge and reinforce bonds between its members ? (Sorry, that came off as really arrogant :P)

Members could join as teams of two or three, and not only write out a piece of fluff, but create a datasheet and a model or drawing as an example. In a way, creating mini codex entries :) I don't know what other fraters and moderati think of this, but I believe it could be rather fun.
