Traitor/Loyalist Questions

Arkangilos

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am currently having some issues with some fluff and who to pick for my traitor selection from the second Betrayal at Calth (BaC) models.

The first BaC is going to be Heresy Era Blood Angels (specifically the ones that would one day become the Sanguinary Crusaders, led by Raphael and Arkangilos). Despite it being heresy era, I'm going to paint them as Post Heresy Sanguinary Crusaders (a darker red, gold trim, and black shoulders). I was able to reason with myself that the ones painted like this will be the veterans of either the Chapter or the Company (depending on the future fluff released by FW) led by Raphael, and are painted as such as a reward from Sanguinius. Sanguinius allowed Raphael to use his personal heraldry with his personal troops. Does this sound ok to you all?

The second BaC is split with my dad, and will be used for my traitors. Now, where I am stuck is that whoever it is is going to tie into post heresy as well, and so I want to make it fit with both. However, both Legions I have it narrowed down to change their colors after the heresy (which is oddly enough, the exact opposite problem I had with my loyalists, in that I want to *keep* the colors).

So, the two legions are the Sons of Horus or the Emperor's Children. I figured Sons of Horus would be easier to explain as to why they kept the same colors. They don't agree with Abaddon, and want to keep their old livery. The Sons of Horus (and later the Black Legion) still seem to have an intact command structure, which is good, and what I want.

However, the Emperor's Children are really interesting, the problem is that I want them to maintain at least a level of hierarchy and their former colors. I don't know much about them pre and post heresy, but the impression I got is that towards the end they lost their hierarchy and only maintained warbands because it was easier for them to achieve their selfish ends with more people around, but that they are really more individuals fighting together than an actual, unified group. How can I explain their colors and keep them in their old colors?

+Edit+

Also, what's the largest formation I can go with with the Emperor's Children? Also, with the Emperor's Children, how can I explain a sorcerer shifting the soul of the leader into the captured Blood Angel hero later on?

I'm pretty sure that post battle of Terra the Emperors children legion basically are still around and are reasonably organised as they manage to unite most of the traitor legions to destroy the son of horus fortress world and steal Horus's body (all praise ADB). And for the sons of Horus the black legion didn't come into existence till well after the heresy enough time for the imperium at large to forget that the traitors exist and for abbadon to travel the most of they eye and turn into a non-dick (ADB only you could do this)
