winterdyne
Not quite; possibly finalist pin sort of level (unless the amount of high standard pieces since moving to the small events has really dropped off). The freehand's a little scrappy for competition level work and the edges aren't dotted on extremes. For a high-end tabletop piece though, it's fine and dandy. Dosjetka
Aye, excellent work. Was this particular tone of blue chosen by the client? It feels a bit too light for Ultramarines (though it's a minor and very much personal quibble). GrandMagnus
Excellent mini, do you mind if I ask you what colours you used? winterdyne
Airbrushed Vallejo Model AIr blue (004) over black. Highlighted by adding progressively more VMA RLM blue (101). That's also neat with a hairy stick for the majority of the edge and chip highlights. winterdyne
The lighter scheme looks like an improved version of the old 2nd edition era Ultramarines blue... Dingdingding! We have a winner. I'm an old bugger, and I've already done a rather dark blue UM army in the past. Wanted to keep it light this time. Also if you have black sections, a lighter scheme makes it easier to get that looking black rather than grey as the contrast across the piece is greater. malika666
I really love the lighter scheme, really makes the accent come out, it just looks a lot more powerful (to me at least).
