Kabbala
So whether an act of penance or a trial of faith, I have just spent the last week assembling, not one, but three Penitent Engines! The assembly process definitely lived up to the reputation! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317278-penitent-engines/ Share on other sites
Naminé
You have proven yourself worthy... Well done Kabbala! Now, be super careful with those models :p I'm currently building 3 myself... ValourousHeart
Yes I quite agree... when I see that threads about the struggles people have assembling their exorcists... I smile inwardly and wonder when they will try to assemble a PE. The joints of the PE give a deceptive impression that assembly will be easy. I have even found that pinning isn't as effective on the PE as it is on other models. I still have to fix one of my PE that broke the pin in the ankles. Naminé
To be fair, some Exorcists are worse then others, depending on the quality of the cast. I'd still rank Pengines as harder to build though ; ) This time I'm making an assembly guide as I go. Sith’ari
Congrats dude and welcome to team penitent! You can tell who else is in the team by the scars on our hands! The joints of the PE give a deceptive impression that assembly will be easy.I have even found that pinning isn't as effective on the PE as it is on other models. I'm with you there mate. In fact, after my first failed attempt to pin one of mine, I just settled for sticking a small amount of greenstuff into the joins and blobbing some gel superglue on top of it. Six months later and they haven't broken apart yet! *Crosses fingers.* Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317278-penitent-engines/#findComment-4255620 Share on other sites
Aqui
I tried assembling mine last night with Gorilla glue. All that managed to stick was the feet to the base! WarriorFish
Gel super glue goes a long way here, no breakages in years :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317278-penitent-engines/#findComment-4255630 Share on other sites

Aqui
Praise Saint Loctite - Preserver of the faith! Someone on a Sister FB page suggested that  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317278-penitent-engines/#findComment-4255679 Share on other sites
Sith’ari
Ahaha! Good old Saint Loctite - glueing metal mini's and hands together for generations! B) Seriously though, Loctite Gel is the business! You have to hold the pieces together for a little while (which is why I also use a tiny bit of green stuff, to keep the parts in place while it dries) but when it's set, it's harder than dried Weetabix! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317278-penitent-engines/#findComment-4255891 Share on other sites
Kabbala
Oh, definitely Loctite all the way! I went through two bottles of it, half a pot of liquid green stuff, and more pins than you can shake a porcupine at assembling the things! But they turned out beautifully and are being painted as we speak! I must truly be a glutton for punishment as I had just previously assembled two Exorcists. I've had the models for nigh on ten years and though my Sisters are battle hardened indeed, I only just found the courage to add more Heavy Support. Servant of Dante
I didn't have THAT much trouble with my penitent engine or my exorcist (but I'm getting a second of each so we'll see...). What I really had trouble with was the turret on my immolator. I put that thing together and took it apart three times over several hours, and it still looks meh. That was the most frustrating experience I've had. Granted, I wasn't too worried by the gaps between my exorcist organ pipes.
