gmaleron
Hello everyone, I have decided to pull the trigger on constructing a Space Wolf Horus Heresy army. That being said I am a huge fan of the Thunderwolf Cavalry models and won't lie but I am definitely disappointed to hear the rumors that they won't be incorporated into the Horus Heresy universe. However that being said I still really want to run them and have been pouring over Forgeworld looking for acceptable conversions or count as units to run them as which I have narrowed them down to either jetbike squads or outrider squads. I honestly don't know which would be better so if anyone could provide some insight or even mention other units I haven't mentioned would be great. Thank you for your responses! Dantay VI
I personally would say they would be better suited as outriders. I need to look at the rules, but I doubt TWC would pass for skimmers. Caillum
Yeah, Outriders would be fine. Dunno about Jetbikes, though wolves can leap, so maybe that can represent them avoiding terrain... gmaleron
Only reason I mention Jetbikes is that the models come with 60mm bases the same as Thunderwolf Cavalry and it wouldn't be hard to represent how fast they move and jinking ability since they're riding wolves. Got the idea off of people building Eldar Exodite armies and using Cold One Cavalry from Fantasy as Jetbikes. Doctor Perils
I think for the moving over terrain thing, jetbikes could work, but I don't see how you'd represent the heavy weapons... Xenith
I ... have been pouring over Forgeworld Gross ;) Bikes are probably the best option. Maybe give each rider a multi melta and call them attack bikes. Memento Of Prospero
I ... have been pouring over Forgeworld Gross ;) Bikes are probably the best option. Maybe give each rider a multi melta and call them attack bikes. Even better, a beefed up catachan arm and a melta bomb in hand. They can chuck those bad boys 24 inches for sure. DuskRaider
I highly doubt (and am crossing my fingers it's so) that Thunderwolves will NOT make an appearance in 30K. FW is taking a mature approach to the armies. I would say if anything, represent Thunderwolves in 40K with Jetbikes... the models are really cool, if a bit phallic. gmaleron
Why would I represent Thunderwolves in 40k as something else when I could just run them as is in 40k? Not at all intending to be rude but I am really only looking at wanting to utilize the models because I think they're awesome in a 30k setting. I think the riders being upgraded with the HH Space Wolf kit would look pretty awesome. At this point they will probably be Outriders since I would be hurting myself putting them on bigger basis which is fine with me. Charlo
Attack bikes seem to fit for me. Add in a consul on a bike to get them some extra combat options :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317293-acceptable-count-as-unit-for-thunderwolf-cavalry/#findComment-4257759 Share on other sites
