Whachu Want them to do?

If its to bully and mince 3+ Saves, Claws are hard to go wrong (especially since they look cool) or Swords / Mauls if you want to save the points.

But for Ap2, its Axes and Power Fists taking at least a Single Chain Fist. If they're going up against a Non-Unwieldy Primarch or MC/GMC/Walker, then a Thunderhammer would be a good bet for Concussive.

If you want cool Power Fists, just take the LC's Snip the Tippy-Tips off and shave them down (Look to FW's Abaddons Power Fist).

For Special Weapons:

Plasma Blasters are Awesome being 2 Shot 18" Plasma Guns.

Reaper Autocannons are ok if they're walking up the board and have to get shots down range/pop a rhino. What with being S7, 2 Shots, Twin-Linked.

Heavy Flamers are good to pile on wounds. However, Cataphractii is Slow and Purposeful so no Overwatch.

For Guns:

Combi-Weapons give you flexibility especially if they find themselves in a position unable to charge (Ie you play a Legion that has the option to deepstrike) and need to nuke something.

Volkite Chargers are great for piling on wounds and thinning out 5+ Armor Hordes.

For a General Purpose, Cheap-ish Loadout:

3 Axes, 2 Swords, Combi-Weapons per 5.

To deal with other Termies:

9x Power Fists, 1x Chainfist, Combi-Plasma/Melta, 2x Plasma Blasters.

To deal with Massed Power Armor:

LC's. If not twinned, Volkite Chargers or Combi-Flamers/Plasma, Heavy Flamers if you want. Power Swords and Mauls to keep it cheap. At least an Axe/Fist on the Sarge to deal with 2+ Save Sargeants.

Thats how I'd go about it, at least.

If you want cool Power Fists, just take the LC's Snip the Tippy-Tips off and shave them down (Look to FW's Abaddons Power Fist).

[Nitpick]The Talon of Horus is not a power fist. It is a relic lightning claw that happens to do S*2 AP3 shred.

Abaddon wears the Talon of Horus - an archaic lightning claw with a built-in combi-bolter, which he look from his fallen Primarch after the Siege of the Emperor's Palace.

[/Niptick]

I always found the look of cataphractii lightning claws ambiguous.

I'm still pondering whether the TDA character should be a Praetor or if I should put some bits and bobs on the chain fist to make it look like a Narthecium.

What I'm thinking of is combi bolters, plasma blaster converted from tactical plasma guns, 2 fists, 2 claws, chainfst.

Go for it if you have the points.

If you ever need to free up some, downgrading to Axes and Swords respectively from the above would be the first place.

FW's Abaddon doesn't have the Talon. Since...y'know, Horus has it.

I also used it as an Aesthetic Example on how to turn Lightning Claws into Power Fists.

Limitations of the BaC box, I'm afraid! I guess I get one sword.

So, is a plasma blaster literally two plasma guns welded together, looks wise?

That's how I made mine for the Betrayal at Calth Terminators. 2 Plasma Guns from the MKIV set filed down slightly and stuck together. Looks the part, and easier/cheaper than sourcing the FW part.

Nice, I've been wondering what to do with the neat retro plasmaguns from the box, and I like this contraption better than the official version.

Thats how I'd go about it, at least.

Does anyone really ever take the volkite chargers over combi-weapons, except Laernean Terminators, who have to?

If your going for MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY, no. If you're going for the rule of cool which is a VERY big draw to 30k, why not? If you're facing Orks or Horde Army players on a decently frequent basis, hell yes.
