Supe robot gangster #1
Does anyone know where I can find any info on how the 1k sons organised their companies? Namely numbers and unit compositions! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317317-thousand-sons-company-organisation/ Share on other sites
Operative
I don't recall any details, also I wouldn't mind knowing how they named their companies if anyone can help answer Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317317-thousand-sons-company-organisation/#findComment-4256126 Share on other sites
Excessus
They had nine companies, at least in the old lore when they were just a few thousand. After the "legion numbers boost" they received to make it all a bit more believeable, there is no known organisation information that is different from the old one. Much of the information about the Thousand Sons is from the early days of Black Library Horus Heresy novels, their old Index Astartes article and various CSM codexes and publications...so too old to be reliable as information 100%. FW might change things up a bit when they release their info. Athrawes
This is very much likely to change, but as it sits right now there are 9 "Fellowships"(there were 10 but the 10th was destroyed just prior to the Heresy) which are probably analogous to other Legions Chapters. To fit in with the current Meta organization of the various Legions, it seems likely that each Fellowship is divided into companies or other sub units. The smallest Legion (in the new bulked up legion size world) is said to be the Salamanders at 89k Marines, so It is conceivable that each Fellowship is comprised of 10k+ marines, which gives ample room for sub-fellowship unit structures within the Thousand Sons Legion. Supe robot gangster #1
I might have to read through the two prospero books and see if anything is mentioned, or hinted at in them. Failing that. Guess! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317317-thousand-sons-company-organisation/#findComment-4256151 Share on other sites

Excessus
Just remember that the two prospero books are very old , almost from the very start of Black Library's Heresy series. A lot of the information back then was based on some things that has changed now, like the legion sizes to make an example. khorneguy
In the old lore (A Thousand Sons and Prospero Burns) there were only 9 Companies, called Fellowships. As people have said though, there's been a significant boost in numbers since then.Until FW corrects me, I've run with the idea that Fellowships are basically chapters, with companies within them. I'm collecting the 55th Company, which I've reasoned would be the 5th Company of the 5th Fellowship. This basically suggests that each Fellowship only has 10 companies, but to me it works, as the Thousand Sons were always one of the smaller Legions, along with the Wolves. Frater Cornelius
Well, it obviously has to be something to do with the 9 or a multiple of 9. Tzeentch and all that. Archidamus
It's reasonable to assume that a Fellowship would translate into a chapter and that each of the current captains of those Fellowships is their chapter master. That is the assumption I took with my company. After that the internal structure of a fellowship is anyone's guess. I've gone from Fellowship to company, then broken my company into three cohorts and one specialist formation (unique to them). Here's how I've been treating the structure so far (obviously it's going to change once the big book drops on us.). 1st Fellowship- Azhek Ahriman 9th Company- Thaeron Estimated Strength: 300 Legionaries Cohort of the Shattered Stars- 100 Legionaries Cohort of the Veiled Dawn - 75 Legionaries Cohort of Arimaspi- 75 Legionaries Anubic Wardens- 50 Legionaries It runs with the idea that whilst a fellowship is made up of ten companies, those companies are not of a fixed size or specialism. Of course its highly possible that companies and fellowships fluctuated as the crusade went on (the current destruction of the 10th fellowship). But that's just I how I see it currently.
