Slips
Pretty sure it states in its rules that It cannot. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317385-caestus-zooming-and-ramming/#findComment-4257581 Share on other sites
Jolemai
For what it's worth, its 40k entry in IAv2SE says that it can. However, this book pre-dates the most recent HH book with the CAestus datasheet. Pretty sure it states in its rules that It cannot. Got a reference for that? Only I can't see it in the HH:LACAL book. All you have to do is declare that it's going to making a ram attack at the start of the Movement phase. There is no longer any comment on which flight mode is used. Jolemai
Also, according to the December 2014 FAQ, the Ram attack is made at STR 10. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317385-caestus-zooming-and-ramming/#findComment-4257607 Share on other sites
Dono1979
Pretty sure it is allowed, HOWEVER, if you Ram something under 18" while Zooming and dont destroy it (meaning the Ram comes to a stop) then you auto destroy yourself. Caillum
No, it can't. Page 84 of 40k Rulebook - Zooming Flyers cannot Tank Shock or Ram. It would have to be in Hover mode. Jolemai
No, it can't. Page 84 of 40k Rulebook - Zooming Flyers cannot Tank Shock or Ram. It would have to be in Hover mode. Those are the basic Flyer rules. The Caestus is an exception to that by virtue of it having the Tank vehicle type. Also, as mentioned above, it can do it in 40k so why not 30k? Caillum
The Flyer rules specifically call out the inability to Tank Shock or Ram, which only vehicles with the Tank type have. Why mention it otherwise? Having the Tank type added to the Flyer type does not grant permission to Ram. But after looking at Imperial Armour Volume 2 Second Edition (which was released in 2013) it specifically allows it when Zooming. So as you said, it can in 40k so why not in 30k? Massaen
Because the 30k rules don't give it that exception. Simple! Plenty of models for 30k have rules in 40k and they are different in little ways every time. This is the same. Maybe pilots got more suicidal in 40k! As someone rightly pointed out - don't do it at less than 18"!
