sandypants87
Hey guys, I've just purchased the betrayal of calth set and I'm holding off building it until I do a bit of research. I know that each legion (like the 40k chapters) specialize in something. They all have there thing. My question is what is Luna wolves? How should I make my dread, tacyicals and terminator squads. Should I go for ballance, combat or shooting? Is there a particular set up for a squad which is amazing? Sorry for the noob like questions. I need your help. Athrawes
While it's true that each Legion had specializations which they excelled at (Blood Angles assaulting from the sky, Iron Warriors laying siege, ect.), Legions are massive and designed so that they could excel at every style of warfare, it is perfectly fluffy for example to have a siege company of Luna Wolves, or a tank company, or air-Cav, or all infantry, Legions were large enough that they had and used pretty much every kind of specialization, so which kind of specialization do you like best? I'd run with that. Now, while the Luna Wolves could be anything in terms of army specialization, They were famous for using the Spear Tip, which is really just about having the veteran Units of your Legion get to grips with the enemies command structure and tear it's throat out as quickly as possible. In Game terms, this is well suited for Pride of the Legion lists. The same thought applies to how you should go about modeling your infantry, and dreadnoughts, The Legions used lots of close combat and lots of shooting so go with whichever you like more. In terms of what is amazing, I'd aim for larger squad sizes if you can. They are the most points efficient way to get more bodies on the table. In 30k, base units are priced higher, while additional bodies are priced lower. It's usually a good idea to go with a 15-20 man tactical squad as opposed to multiple smaller squads, but again, that depends heavily on what kind of list you want to run.
