Doing this on iPad so not sure it will make the link work, but this is the discussion on jink vs blast from the rules forum; hope it helps (but suspect it won't!).

Don't be so sure it won't help. It maybe that I am assuming something that you haven't considered. That assumption may be affecting my perspective of this.

This was an interesting read, thank you. It does however bring up a couple of questions. All questions are for when you place the template, but have not rolled for scatter yet.

1. Are all models under the the blast template before it scatters targets or just the ones from the same unit as the one model under the hole?

Example 1: 2 attack bike units are close enough that a Leman Russ can place its battle cannon shot to touch 2 models from unit A and 1 model from unit B. The hole is centered on a model from unit A. Who gets to jink?

2. Would ruins affect that answer? All levels of a ruin are effected by blasts, so would placing a template over a ruin indicate that you are targeting all levels of that ruin?

Example 2: You have a ruin with sniper scouts on the top floor, tactical marines on the second floor, and black knight that are making a beeline through the first floor. Same battle cannon shot. Original placement of the template would affect all 3 units if you roll a hit or don't scatter much. Can you deny the RWBK their jink save?

3. Do you have to place the template so that it hits the most models from unit A, or can it be placed to hit the most models from the most units possible.

Example 3a: Same situation as in example 1, but now there is a 3rd bike in unit A which could be hit. Can the template be placed as it was to affect unit B?

Example 3b: 3 bikes from unit A could be covered by the template or you could cover

2 from unit A and 2 from unit B. If you cover 3 from unit A none from unit B are touched. Can you cover both units?
