How do you designate yourUnforgiven Specialists and Wings?

Greetings, Brothers

I'm trying to figure out paint schemes for a future project - modern DA for GotC and BaC for Consecrators.

(I was going to make a DIY chapter but I've been really impressed by the GotC threads here.  So I've changed things a bit.)

At the moment I'm trying to figure out how to differentiate the various wings and specialist roles (Libbies, Techmarines, etc)

First question I guess is whether there are official colours and markings for those two chapters?  I would be very interested in seeing what other folks have done for their models.  I believe that most Unforgiven Sucessors don't use different colours for 'wings.

My own thinking at the moment is:

Consecrators should stick fairly closely to the Legion Scheme, I feel.  So their 'wings would all have black armour.

I do think that different coloured robes wouldn't look out of place.

E.g. Blue for Libbies, Black for Interrogator-Chaplains, White for Apothacaries.

I'm not too sure about Techmarines...perhaps the slightly duller red-brown of Ad-Mech robes with the Ad-Mech symbol?

With the GotC I'm a bit concerned about getting colours to work with their 'bare steel' armour.  It could easily look a bit ugly.  However, I've seen some great work using the black, red and white of their existing palette.  For them, I was thinking of using their robes to designate 'wings.

E.g. Black for Raven', White for Death' and Red for the...er...Green'...

For specialists I might go with the standard Red Robes but use the Codex scheme for armour, e.g. Blue armour for libbies.

OTOH: If everybody in both Consecrators and GotC has the same coloured robes it would serve to tie the two armies together on the table top.

I'd love to see other folks suggestions or examples of this kind of thing.  Cheers.

Hi there,

Welcome, it's always great to see another Guardians of the Covenant player!

Feel free to check out my WIP thread here: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/309279-theweepingangels-guardians-of-the-covenant/

As you will see, I went with red deathwing, silver "normal" marines, and mostly black ravenwing (although I need to post some updated photos, as I have gone with a black/bone/red scheme for my more recent bikers.

I personally really like this colour scheme, and it's pretty easy to paint. Additionally, there's enough black and red in there that they would tie in well with consecrators, I feel.

In relation to robes specifically, something that I have done(and seen elsewhere) is keep the silver armour, but do blue robes for librarians. This keeps a cohesive look while standing out enough.

Hope that is of some help to you

My Deathwing are coloured crimson and light grey and my Ravenwing are coloured...erm...I forget. That keeps happening to me. Maybe I should get that checked unsure.png. Anywho, I don't see why you believe most Successors don't have different 1st and 2nd Company colours. Just because you don't see them doesn't mean they aren't pink msn-wink.gif.

I guess I forgot to mention that I have a DIY Unforgiven Successor. That means I can do whatever I want devil.gif! Well, within the confines of the law and common human decency.

Thank you for the replies, brothers.

I might try to adapt the coloured stripe idea to either edging or a chapter symbol in the specialist colour.

@Mehman: I can't say for sure...I have a vague recollection of one of the older DA Codexes stating that most Unforgiven don't use different colours.

@WeepingAngel: Thanks for the link.  Nice work!  :)

From the Fourth Edition Codex: Dark Angels...

Each of the Unforgiven Chapters follows the Dark Angels' pattern of organization closely, and each has its own Inner Circle. They all have formations which are similar to the Deathwing and Ravenwing Companies, although they are not named as such. Some of these Chapters use special uniforms and markings for these units, while others do not.

I think that's what you're looking for.
