helterskelter
Evening chaps, just a quick one, I've managed to bag a storm section that's going to be added to my night Lords and was wondering if any of the more knowledgeable of you out there, known of any detachments or colour schemes of SA or imperial army with the NL. If nothing I'll have to get creative, but thanks in advance! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317714-night-lords-human-auxiliaries/ Share on other sites
God-Potato of Mankind
There were probably a few, but I can't imagine they lasted too long to make a name for themselves :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317714-night-lords-human-auxiliaries/#findComment-4265192 Share on other sites
Calas Typhon
None that I have found fella, I would expect them to use dark and pale colour's considering the homeworld they come from. So possibly blacks/Night Lord blues? Make something up and surprise us! DuskRaider
Most of the Astartes Recruiting World PDF / Auxilia were overshadowed by their Legionnaire counterparts, so there's a lot of unwritten (as of now) backstory on them. It's a great opportunity to come up with your own history, scheme, modus operandi, and relationship with the Legion. helterskelter
Groovy, free reign I like it. So a quick blitz round the noodle, I'm thinking an ice blue/white scheme, the regiment moniker of ghosts, phantoms or some reference to the walking dead of some kind, with the idea that their uniforms are white due to the fact if the enemy didn't kill them, they might meet an uncertain end to disgruntled legionaries, so either way they are already dead, the second reason if their uniforms are drenched in blood/unconscious on the battlefield they may be left alone long enough for their own medic to find them lest a bored night Lord decided although he couldn't fight he might be useful in other ways. Or something along those lines. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317714-night-lords-human-auxiliaries/#findComment-4265310 Share on other sites
Hesh Kadesh
Possibly filled with rejects who were deemed to be too mentally unstable to become full Legionaries. One of the things that gets me in 40k is the sheer wastefulness, where to become anything good you must go through a process which kills 9 out of 10; look at the GK. Sure they want to put across super special snowflake, but its like people trying to join the SEAL teams and failing the BUDS course and rather than being sent back to the unit, they are taken out back and shot. Sure, some may die during training, as has happened a couple of times recently with SAS recruits, but theres nothing like the 95% mortality rate to choosing Astartes. I like to think that in 30k, rather than having failed Astartes airlocked, they send them to form a detachment like solar auxilia esque style. Along.with the fact that Army are distrusted and hence do not score with Night Lords, that works doubly well, with rather than the Astartes being seen as Heroes, as the UM do, those failed Astartes look to the NL with Envy, jealousy and hate. As well as being able to throw them headfirst at an enemy unit and try and deny enemies.
