Guiltysparc
Is there a fluffed based preference/meaning on which shoulder the legion icons go? In scouring the internet I've seen pictures of models with the legion iconography on either shoulder. Charlo
It's usually the left, but it can be on the right for a variety of reasons: armour marks, personal heraldry, squad designation etc There are so many Marines in the Heresy that uniformity isn't always there, which is good as it let's you model how you want. That said the big books have a lot of example art with shoulders for most legions now. God-Potato of Mankind
It's entirely up to you really. The FW shoulder pads can be either be uni-directional or single-directional. For example, Salamander shoulder pads only fit the left shoulder. So I put unit indicators and the like on the right pad. However my World Eater pads work on either shoulder so I get to choose. Quixus
The most common reason for putting the legion symbol on the right shoulder probably are the armour studs on the MK V and VI armours. For some reason the MK IV of the BaC box also has studded shoulder pads. Guiltysparc
ah, so the armor studs should be on the left shoulder. I'm building World Eaters so the icons work for either direction, was just wondering if there was a...historically accurate (lol?) way to do it. RandomMarine
I usually put mine on the right shoulder but a bit of variation brings a army to life rather than looking like cookie cutter marines Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317871-legion-shoulder-iconography/#findComment-4269247 Share on other sites
Sviar
I usually put mine on the right(not all but most). If you look at the picture below that was the place when I started with the hobby.
