nismogrendel
This is the first power sword I have done. This is attempt #4 or 5, I scraped the paint off reprimed with airbrush and started over a few times. I think the Black > dark blue > light blue > white looks ok... but I'm not sure if that light blue section stretches too far without a color change. I'm afraid if I try to blend between the light blue and the white I may ruin it again. Thoughts? Should I put a coat of gloss varnish over the blade? Not sure how that would make it look. Once sword is finished I'm going to finish the rest of the model. http://i.imgur.com/xafh3Kp.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317893-how-does-this-power-sword-blade-look/ Share on other sites
Hrolf the Cunning
I think it looks good, the transitions between colours are nice and not too stark. I think when you finish the generator and hilt it will look even better. I would perhaps darken/black-line/wash around the hilt to make the origin of the blue even darker. Good tip for the generator section. I have nuln, agrax and the blue wash from GW. Would you use the GW blue wash or nuln oil around the generator? Hrolf the Cunning
To be honest I would probably try the both the blue wash and then nuln. Blue first, slightly into the the deeper blue and then after it has dried a smaller area of coverage for the nuln. That may be overkill as in may not add overly to the image but low risk so I would try anyway and you may be pleasantly surprised. Quixus
Looks great. Maybe put a thin line of white all the way down the edge of the blade. Jamafore
I always gloss my power weapons for that shiny look but that's just me. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317893-how-does-this-power-sword-blade-look/#findComment-4271953 Share on other sites
Xenith
Looks great, but I would have done the white at the point where the generator goes into the blade, that being the 'hottest' part.
