Damo1701
Hail Brothers and Sisters. Due to the awful weather here in Blighty, I have had to be inventive if I wanted to get paint of the models I need for my Gladius Strike Force components. Spray Undercoating. I have found that storing my Sprays in the kitchen keeps them at optimal temperature. I then take a cheap tray full of models out to my brick shed, stand in the door way, facing out, and spraying. This enables me to undercoat, regardless of weather, and still get great coverage. Airbrushing. I have recently procured an airbrush, and have played around with it a bit, and it seems to give a decent coverage when used to undercoat. This has the added bonus of being able to be done indoors, as there are no propellants, and you can use a cardboard box to use as a booth. Granted, I'm still learning how to get the best from my airbrush, and that it is a cheap model, with a cheap compressor, however, I am finally starting to see why people use these things, as I have managed to basecoat far more Marines than I would have done with a brush. I am really rusty with the B&C rules on links, so, I will just say that if you are interested in getting going with an airbrush, and you are on a budget, for less than £60, I've been really impressed with the whole kit, including Vallejo Model Air paints. I'm expecting some Citadel Air paints to turn up in the next day or two, as I didn't know they did them when I ordered my airbrush. Food for thought, if you are waiting for a break in the weather for undercoating, here are a couple of options. Warsmith Uveron
On a similar note I have had great success using http://www.wunderground.com/ to help me pick the best hour/day to spray models. Damo1701
That's quite cool. However, there are times where I just need to get things done, and if the weather decides it's not going to play nice, I decided to work out other options. Been getting frustrated with the amount of stuff that is not battle ready yet, and, as winter dragged on, decided to make a go of it, and got results I liked. Lol. I have what I suppose is a strange attitude towards spray basecoating, in that I won't do it anywhere except in my garden, and I won't do it after dark. Over winter that means the only opportunities I get are at the weekend, which are either rainy or too busy! I suppose I'll have to break my habit and go in the garage, although I might need a real life Heavy Flamer to purge all the 8-legged xenos in there. Eugh. Or buy an airbrush. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317929-bad-weather-undercoating/#findComment-4270753 Share on other sites

I can see that, sadly for me out here in Okahoma, even 'in-doors' the temp and the humity are to low/high... So I use the site to spot the best day and prepare a hole pile of things to spray that day. OrangeBob
Uveron, being in North Texas, I feel your pain. Hell, it was 75 degrees (fahrenheit) today and it's supposed to drop to 27 tomorrow. It's truly impossible to plan. Not to mention tornadoes...
