The Lord of Iron
Anyone else notice the addition of a new rule for the for Dark Angel Praevian in the new errata? http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/resources/fw_site/fw_pdfs/Horus_Heresy/Horus_Heresy_7th_Edition.pdf It gives re-rolls to wound against monstrous creatures. It overlaps a bit with cortex designator giving PE but still cool. how do you guys think this reflects on what the actual legion rules are going to be? Caillum
I dare say that Dark Angels Characters will get the same rule as the Praevian's Battle-Automata. Probably not 'Monster Hunter' specifically, as that rule confers from one model to the whole unit, making them too good against Mechanicum. Hesh Kadesh
Clearly not a part of the Legiones Astartes rules. It's not Monster Hunter, as it doesn't affect the whole unit, just the single model. If Monster Hunter-like is going to be taken for character, I'm expecting some sort of challenge requirement to be with it. Going by the pricing of Sonic Shriekers, Banestrike Bolters, Trophies of Judgement (as currently useless as they are - please, please, please force rerolls of Ld and act like reverse vexilla - and if so, let me run that with Abaddon or Erebus and some form of guaranteeing Terrify as a power known), it's likely to be a 5pt upgrade for a character to take. It's cool, but naff. Anything character shaped is going to get minced by a Monstrous Creature, unless he's in a unit already equipped for dealing with Monsters. It makes him better at it - but he should already be capable enough at it that it's only a niche upgrade. Still, could be "useful" with his S8 Reroll failed wounds against Scabiethrax or whatever. TemujinZero
All of the other bonuses listed for other legions extend options available to characters or select squads to the automata, so it's a pretty safe bet that this rule is either built in to the legion trait but only normally affects characters, or that it is an upgrade for characters or certain squads. I doubt that this tells us anything about the main effect of their legion trait. Anti-MC is too niche. Caillum
Yeah, not expecting it to be a main trait but rather a bonus attached to another rule. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/317993-new-dark-angel-rule/#findComment-4272353 Share on other sites
