Fluff-related questions regarding the Vlka Fenryka

Greetings guys,

1) What, exactly, was their Legion icon/symbol back then? The SW codex has always (AFAIK) maintained that the wolf that walks amongst the stars (i.e. the one that the Great Wolf always uses) was Leman Russ's heraldry, but most pre-heresy art seems to depict their symbol as a red-colored wolf head (fairly similar'ish with that of Ragnar Blackmane's).

Is it because, just as it is now, their Legion iconography is based on their Wolf Lord; and only Leman Russ had that symbol back then to differentiate him as the Primarch?

2) Has there been a retcon on when/why their colour scheme changed?

I call it a retcon as I understand that the origins were likely due to some artistic freedom back in the old WD articles and the coming of the 13th Company in 3rd ed; rather than any actual fluffy reason. I'm just curious whether the HH series writers ever took to explaining it, or whether this is just due to different depictions of grey.

I ask this mainly because I actually personally prefer the baby blue (nostalgia reasons).....

3) Other than the books centering around their attack on Prospero, are there other materials worth reading? Novels, audiobooks, etc.

Thanks!

1. From what we've seen thus far (one image from a while ago), the Legion symbol appears to be a Wolf Head. Not too dissimilar to the current Ragnar's Compnay symbol. but in Red rather than Black. This leaves the Wolf That Stalks Between Stars as Russ' personal heraldry.

2. Not really, it's still essentially grey, just a different shade. Same can be said for most of the loyalist Legions, even in the old IAs the colour shade changes between m31 and m41. I just assume it's a natural progression of changing pigment, altered ingredient availability or compositions over the millennia which adds up to a noticeable change, but you wouldn't see a drastic change in armour colour one day to the next.

3. Haven't read it personally yet, but the Wolf King novella seemed to go down about as well as Wolves stories do on here.
