I6 for the Win!

Combining the Baal Strike Force "Red Thirst" special rule with Corbulo's 6" bubble of +1WS/I from The Red Grail can make any Blood Angel unit within range I6 on the charge.

Obviously, this is pretty ridiculous, with only a few units in the game (i.e. DE Wyches, Genestealers, Hive Tyrants with Lash Whips, Eldar Exarchs, Harlequins, and certain ICs) able to compete with it.

So, my question is, how have Blood Angel players here on B&C maximized this ability? What has been the best practices to make use of this very unique capability, especially since it can allow BAs to improve their own survivability by killing enemies in CC before they can strike back?

I always think Corbulo is a good option for getting an I5 charge when you may be using the CAD for objectives. At I6 it probably makes charging that other I6 unit more attractive to rob them of charge bonuses and hit at the same time. Now I'm imagining a vet sgt challenging out slaaneshi champion on the charge and cutting him down before he can act. Because red goes faster.

I5 us usually good enough.

That beats everything but eldar units and slaneesh, and most of those fold under an assault anyway, since t3 vs str5 is pretty nasty.

So I've found corbulo is better in a cad when you aren't getting red thirst bonuses, he's half wasted in a BSF.

I agree with the above. BA are much better when you run them in a CAD and use our fast vehicles with OS to claim objectives.

When running a CAD, Corbulo makes units I5, which is huge. His bonus isn't as useful when using him in a BSF (going from I4 to I5 is a much bigger deal than going from I5 to I6).

Not to mention that corbulo gives you a solid bonus even if you being charged.

That's a common BA problem.

Corbs seems to be an elder specialist. Farseeing eye is a great counter to the witches trickery and his attacks would mince most elder @T3. Strangely I think VV without JPs are a good option with him and a stormraven, Grab preferred enemy for the SR and charge something putting that bubble where you want it.

Otherwise a chappy for DC and/ or SP for SG are probably better HQ options unfortunately. To bad his aura isn't +1WS like the rest of the priests.

I've used this combo a few times in games. The last time was in a 3000pt game and I went mad with it for a laugh.

Spartan

Corbulo

Mephiston

Seth

6 Lc termi

4 th/ss termi

Clearly a ridiculously expensive unit but wow was it it fun and it just destroyed everything.

I've also done the same but with

15 deathcompany

Astorath

Corbulo

Meph

In a spartan

The thing to bear in mind about Corbs is his I5 bubble works on defense as well whereas BSF requires you get the Charge.

So as others have pointed out, CAD or non-BSF formation probably fits him best.

Corbs + Sternguard, Tacticals, DP/Rhino ASM, LC Termies (if you get them a ride), or VV in a DP/Rhino can be good, though not so competitive.
