binary
Hi guys, I've been running this topic in the modelling forum, but thought I'd gets bit more feedback from you dwellers in the age of darkness... This is wher I'm currently at- the idea is that the 156th were recalled to Istvaanbut were delayed in the ensuing warp turmoil, arriving 16 weeks later with no clue what happened. This log will follow how they reacted to the truth, and what happened to them in the dark days leading up to the siege. "Talk to them. Tell their stories. Show the Imperium that, despite the Warmaster's best wishes, some of us still honour the name we carry and the eagle we were gifted with. After all this is over, they must know the truth of what happened." And so in the weeks and months following the I went to them. I asked, they answers. They talked, I listened. They told their stories and I made sure they were told to others. They were proud of who they were, and hated what their brothers had become. What started 16 weeks after the betrayal at Istvaan, when Sergeant Aello discovered the truth in the ruins of the Urgall Depression and ended at the walls of the Imperial palace will be lost in the annals of history, but it important that someone remembers. They were the 156th company, the Emperors Children. They call themselves the Silent Choir. They are some of the forgotten heroes. These are their stories. -The Perfection of Silence, The lost 156th. "Proud? Proud? Of course we were proud. Look at what we accomplished. Look at what we achieved. Even the Phoenician's flagship was named after it. But pride leads to hubris and we have seen where that road leads. So no I will not be prideful. I will listen. And then WE will act. As brothers, not rivals." Commander Clyme at the formation of the Talamasca. -The Perfection of Silence, The lost 156th. Dorian Isope, Remembrancer 314th expedition. Commander Clyme commands the 156th in a unique way amongst the third legion. All the Centurions under his command form a council called The Talamasca (lit. Masque of equals) which acts similar to Horus' mournival. Clyme reasoned that it was the sycophants and fearful that led his legion down this path, allowing their pride and superiority to sway Fulgrim to betray the Emperor. By having a council of dissenting voices meant that any actions would be taken not in pride, or in haste, but with deliberation and thought. He reasoned that perfection was still achievable, but it shouldn't be at the expense of his brothers. Codicier Dikaiosyne, The Memory, advisor to the Talamasca. Dikaiosyne stands apart from the Talamasca, due to his preternatural skills. He felt it would unease his brothers on the council if they thought he could or would influence a vote. As such he has taken on the role of advisor and memorialist, hence his title as The Memory of the 156th. On the battlefield he is accompanied by members of the Palatine Blades, who have allowed him admittance as they view his precognitive abilities as a true test of their duelling skills. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/mark_kilburn/emperors%20children/542937AE-DE05-4C76-8FEE-F602940D2F46_zpse0onkyu2.jpg Makai Thanatos, The Golden Prince, Moritat. Thanatos' seat on the Talamasca was a contentious issue. Quiet and brooding, many said he was unsuitable as his quick anger led to many honour duels. It was Dikaiosyne that eventually proved the wiser voice. "Sometimes anger is needed, and when the quietest voice speaks it usually leads to the loudest actions" He favours duelling with pistols rather than swords, claiming there is more art in the perfect timing than in the flailing of blades, and his preferred weapons are a pair of volkite serpenta called Alitheia and Nomaika (lit. Truth and Justice). His armour is decorated with flowing parchment listing each and every duel he has participated in, hand written by scribes before each battle. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/mark_kilburn/emperors%20children/85C9B8BB-D384-49F2-9A41-4B93C111A076_zpsifnnfbx3.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/318187-the-third-legion-loyalists/ Share on other sites

binary
So, another week goes by and here's where I am. Managed to build a few models, but it's to damn cold to spray primer at the moment so paintings on hold for a bit. I decided that I'd build marines from different units so that I've got some variety as another stint of 13 tacticals will probably kill me! First up are the sergeant and one marine form the Legion Assault squad. Sergeant is built using Kurtha Sedd's legs (left over from my legion Vexillia conversion), sanguinary guard body and jump pack, the rest from B@C. The marine is mostly B@C, with an SG jump pack, and arms from the legion destroyer kit. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/mark_kilburn/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-01/B6B8E1E3-863C-4E46-854B-5A454712AD61_zps9xnsbedj.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/mark_kilburn/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-01/1C93ABE2-A7A9-48E5-B7E3-2706AACB5062_zpsdntxdgel.jpg Second we have the first two members of a Legion Breacher squad. Taking inspiration from JackDaw's Seraph, these two are built using the Legion Destroyer bodies and heads and B@C arms. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/mark_kilburn/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-01/368E274E-A371-4013-8929-607727ED67DC_zps76mgx5ny.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/mark_kilburn/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-01/780388F2-EFA0-4FCE-80FF-1796053747BD_zpsdlio10pq.jpg Did some more work on the boarding shield for the breachers too. This started as Asterion Moloc's Storm shield, I just removed the Minotaur symbol, and re sculpted the underlying Aquilla. It still needs some GS and tidying up before it's ready to cast (as I'm going to need a minimum of 12 of them!) http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/mark_kilburn/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-01/99034CB3-ADA3-4530-A62C-AFADD44A7BA0_zpspbf3bjmi.jpg Lastly, and I'd like to thank KizzDougs for the inspiration for these, two members of the Palatine Blade squad. Wanted to give some variation so I mix and matched the arms and added the jump packs from the Legion Destroyer kit. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/mark_kilburn/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-01/FBFCEC1C-95CC-4115-BE43-6043F372BBD2_zpsiuqbyiap.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/mark_kilburn/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-01/E46E3528-633A-43A0-A31B-E04AB000F0EA_zpsurp8tlwb.jpg Emperor`s Children always look good when painted well and yours is no exception :) Loving the moritat conversion as well ;) Thanks man, always good to know I'm heading down the right track! binary
Well this has been a productive week. Firstly before anything else, something has been bothering me about the paint scheme (no I'm not jumping ship to another legion, I like purple and gold!). The original idea was to have the armour look reflective but I just wasn't feeling it. It was then I saw the space marine diorama in WD93 and it was like someone flipped a light switch. It didn't look reflective because the highlights weren't bright enough. So taking a deep breath I picked up the white paint and one of the "finished" tactical marines. 20mins and a LOT of swearing later this was the result http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/mark_kilburn/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-03/F99139FC-7F4C-45F2-A638-0ABAD0455AD5_zpswenq9hnf.jpg Now that was the look I was after. Just got to go back and do it to all the finished marines. Now you've all seen these 3 before but both cataphractii and the culverin have had the white high light applied. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/mark_kilburn/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-03/5C0D7158-8A94-4A8D-BB7C-88FB2CCD0192_zpscbyegnam.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/mark_kilburn/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-03/B5004631-CB3F-4B18-830F-D23D5C366BFB_zpstb9pywin.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/mark_kilburn/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-03/4DBE719A-5589-46CF-8070-5B26BFA2B362_zps6knta2yo.jpg Now onto why it's been a productive week. K..... in EC colours. The current scheme I am working on is Corax White spray + Naggaroth Night + 1-2 layers of Xereus Purple (keeping it darker) + Druchii Violet. Screaming Skull for Shoulder and potentially Knee Pads. Balthasar Gold + 1-2 layers of Gehenna's Gold and pure Gehenna's Gold for the freehand patterns. Not sure what colour I use for cloaks yet, though. Either dark green, Palid Witch Flesh or something creamy (some white tone washed with Seraphim Sepia). binary
Go with the dark green, gives you some contrast with the white parts without being overpowering. It's the same reason I'm using dark blue for capes and shading. The sanguinary guard boxed set is a god send for the EC Now mostly this is prepping for ETL but I couldn't resist doing a little painting. Firstly, 90% done with the command squad, just need capes and the banner http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/mark_kilburn/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-04/8454A588-4EB6-48B0-A28D-50E6A56FA23A_zpsjdvxagla.jpg Then 10 man veteran tactical squad http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/mark_kilburn/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-04/AF570FED-455E-45B6-8D35-3FA72955B0F2_zpsaikgsijc.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/mark_kilburn/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-04/E65DFE8C-2CCF-4DCC-B4B2-AB38CC00ECBE_zpsmqzaua9t.jpg The remainder of the 5 man destroyer squad http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/mark_kilburn/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-04/BC7E56A1-4663-4A14-A1D0-23D28DE02A69_zpsve3qecrw.jpg Started on the deredeo http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/mark_kilburn/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-04/D26842D9-799B-4EBC-B1D8-70E9FB10FDC7_zpszfnstvhp.jpg And since the casting of the shields went this well http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/mark_kilburn/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-04/C3BA148E-A565-4C13-8D63-6A26A8C3BC3B_zpsejdx1vqn.jpg I built the palatine breachers (an idea shamelessly stolen from the estimable Kizzdougs) http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/mark_kilburn/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-04/8D621A03-996B-47A3-BFA4-E5B487231A4C_zpsjycqthzy.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/mark_kilburn/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-04/B635A546-2FF8-4DE5-BC69-69BD4E9441E2_zpsf0g4wity.jpg And couldn't resist finishing the sergeant to test the colours on the shield http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/mark_kilburn/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-04/111968B1-E59C-40D2-9F49-6DDF2E0E09A7_zpsny65yewt.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/mark_kilburn/Mobile%20Uploads/2016-04/DE2AD074-C572-408F-B9B1-90D03168CF3D_zpsh0d1odp0.jpg Now for the part of the army I really want to add some jetbikes but I'm torn between the Scimitar bikes and the MoTRW jetbikes which I could convert.
