Emperor's Furor
Which legion do you think would complement a Sons of Horus orbital assault list? I'm slightly worried that whilst my force will eventually be able to cause some real damage, on a more tactical level when objectives and such are involved they may have a problem with it so I want to ally them to another force, I'm just not sure which. I'm considering either SA and AdMech for my SoH drop list. SA are really good for capturing objectives that your main guys might be too busy to grab. AdMech are good for the durability and AT you'll need that you'll lack in a drop force. Also, how many points are you looking at? Hesh Kadesh
The problem is with Orbital Assault is that your entire army has to be able to Deep Strike, not just the detachment. Of course you can chalk that up to poor rules. Solar Auxilia are okay, but cannot take Defensive Bastions unless Primary Detachment. That said, you can now without question ally in Rites of War, so Primary Detachment SA and make use of no scatter 18" AP2 Fleshbane Torrents to do your damage and get Grav Rapiers/Grenade Launcher Techpriests for AT, while you then pod in. Bear in mind as well with Orbital Assault you can no longer stay in your Legion Drop Pod (although Dreadclaw etc is fine) and shoot out/assault next turn. Maloghurst gives Fearless to your SA, and can allow you to bring barrage Medusa/Scorpius and Reavers/Veterans. 1000 Sons
Objectives are for suckers, ally in some World Eaters. The best compliment to an assault army is more assault. Once you have half your army doing one thing, and another half doing another, you find that you aren't doing either of them very well. My friend at my local GW said only the primary detachment has to stick to the rite of war use and the ally can do what it likes. Guiltysparc
I would some some iron warriors tanks and artillery would pair really well with SoH units coming down in drop pods. That would make a pretty bitchin hammer and anvil combo.
