Word bearers legion icon question

Hey guys, I plan on doing a small Word Bearers force timed during/after Calth.

 

I got a bunch of goodies already but I'm slightly bummed for blindly buying the FW pads and rhino doors, which have the pre heresy book icon on them.

 

At what point during the heresy did the WB switch to the flaming skull? (I'm guessing they should/would have had it before Calth)

Honestly, some in the Legion are still wearing the grey / using the Great Crusade iconography up to and even post-Calth. It's perfectly fine to mix and match, gives the army more character.

But if you're looking for a starting point of when the icon entered service, Istvaan V is when started filtering in alongside the red armor.

 

But like DuskRaider said, the introduction wasn't uniform so personal preference applies.

It's worth noting that it first appeared inside the flame springing from the book in the original legion icon, and this symbol was in widespread se at Calth and throughout the Shadow Crusade.

The daemon popping out of the book was the one which I was referring to.

 

 

Will have to think this over a bit more. I do have the transfer sheet as well, so could potentially use those as well.
