Captain General
OK, just finished air brush painting my warhound, now I have to do some touch-up work with the same color, but, I had to thin it to spray, now I need to thicken it back up to brush/dab some spots. Is there anyway to thicken the paint? CG Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/318332-thickening-paint/ Share on other sites
Carlson793
Pour some into an open container and let it sit until it 'air dries'/the moisture in it evaporates a bit? Is there anyway to thicken the paint? CG I think there are mediums you can add to the paint to thicken it back up. Liqutex makes some mediums that can 'gel' it back to a thicker fluid. The other way I was going to suggest that might take a long time is to leave the thin paint in a bottle, capped (no air). Let it settle. Let it separate and then eye-dropper lift off the thin liquid (water) off the top. it would be nice to use a simple centrifuge that would help speed up the process ? Imren
Vallejo have this retarder medium found on this page: http://www.acrylicosvallejo.com/en_US/model-paints/auxiliary-products/3 That thickens the paint a lot when used. The drawback is (doesn't necessarily need to be) that it slows down the drying time. But it works very well as thickener as well.
