Shaolin_Monkey
Just a quick one, reading the options for the Contemptor its unclear whether I can take two Chainfists on them. I know its not necessary and probably not a great loadout but it looks cool (they even have pictures on the FW site of an IH one with them) and I mostly play for fun anyway. Anyone able to shed some light on this?(PS I am aware that most people wouldn't have an issue with me taking this anyway if I run it past them but I find it easier to avoid that where possible, some people around here are touchy with anything not RAW) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/318378-twin-chainfist-on-contemptor/ Share on other sites
Slips
Rules wise, since Dreadnought Chain Fists are no longer specialist weapons (FAQ), you're no longer losing an Attack for having DCCW + CF. So, Modelling wise, you're free to built your Dread with 2 Chain Fists without it causing any problems so long as you make it clear thats what/why you did it. You could argue this method to get two Chain Fists: Heavy Bolter Arm -> DCCW -> CF Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/318378-twin-chainfist-on-contemptor/#findComment-4280350 Share on other sites
Quixus
What FAQ are you talking about? By RAW you cannot replace the TLHB with a CF. That weapon can only be replaced by other ranged weapons or a DCCW. I really don't know why the Contemptors don't get the PF like SM and CSM dreadnoughts. I read the rules again and they at least imply that you can replace the TLHB with a DCCW and then the DCCW with a CF, because you also need to do a sequence of replacements to be able to replace more than one storm bolter/TL bolter. What FAQ are you talking about? By RAW you cannot replace the TLHB with a CF. That weapon can only be replaced by other ranged weapons or a DCCW. Yeah that's my read of it too sadly, ah well, may just do it as a display piece or magnetise the arms Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/318378-twin-chainfist-on-contemptor/#findComment-4280367 Share on other sites
Slips
Its not so much that it permits a Contemptor to take 2 Chain Fists, just that there is no Downside to CF + PF anymore. http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/resources/fw_site/fw_pdfs/Horus_Heresy/Horus_Heresy_7th_Edition.pdf Line is: Do Dreadnoughts equipped with a chainfist and a Dreadnought close combat weapon, or two chainfists gain an additional attack? Yes. Assume that the chainfists used by Dreadnought classes specifically in the Legiones Astartes Crusade Army list to be customised variants with the following profile:Range: - Str:x2 AP:2 Type: Melee, Armourbane Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/318378-twin-chainfist-on-contemptor/#findComment-4280375 Share on other sites
