Brother Achiles
Hi all I have my first heresy game coming up and looking into some help with my list. So far I have the following. HQ Sigismand, pride of the legion Troops 6 man cataphractii term squad. Sgt with combi melta and power sword. 1 x reaper autocannon although also have heavy flamer. 1 chainfist, 3 powerfist, 1 thunderhammer. Spartan transport with flare shield, ceramite, auxillary drive. 12 man tac squad, vexilla, 10 man vet squad. sgt with power fist and artificer armour, vexilla, 2 x heavy bolter with suspensor web, sniper, rhino transport with auxillary drive. Fast attack Land speeder with 2 x heavy bolter. Heavy support Sicaran with armoured ceramite, lascannons, auxillary drive. Leviathan dread with drop pod, storm cannon, heavy flammers, siege claw, armoured ceramite. That all comes to 1992 points. Sigismand is to ride with terminators in Spartan and get in close combat. Leviathan comes down turn one and wrecks havoc, whilst tac squads move up to objectives and land speeder flanks and opens up. Any suggestions would help. I do have a contemptor dread with assault cannon which I could field but felt ceramite and more troops would benefit more. God-Potato of Mankind
Do you have a rought idea of your Mighty Salamander opponent's list? I'd say focus on AP2 and AV as those are things Sallies excel in. Are you expecting Firedrakes in a Spartan? I'm unsure on Siggy, but I hear he's brutal as heck but I'd expect a team of Drakes to annihilate regular cataphractii. If matched with a Mantle-Praetor or Vulkan.... You'd have to rely on the Leviathan to take down his Spartan too. Again I'm unsure on the efficacy of this, but the Stormcannon is anti-MEQ which most Sally players won't have a huge amount of and what does have it won't be a target priority as you should be engaging the Spartan. Perhaps try to the Grav-flux? The Vets & Speeders with improved BS for bolter-weapons should do ok against their 3+ saves but he could also field Pyros which would be painful for you. Pyros would handily wreck alot of things in that list, can be put in Achilles Alpha with MMs which can nuke your Terminator squad at the same time. Pyros can also get melta bombs which will tear through your Lev/Spartan and you have no real AV punch to match. You could consider changing the vets to a more AV focus role with tank hunter & meltas/meltabombs. Brother Achiles
What I do know is he will be playing the betrayal at calth box, 3 vet squads, cataphract terms, contemptor with assault cannon, praetor and chaplain. That comes to 1500 points, Along with this maybe some mkiv dreads and rhinos and maybe a land raider or proxied as a Spartan. He might proxy a normal pred as an infernus too. This is my first 30k game so will def be a massive learning curve.
