Aebethan (Death Knell of the Loyalists)

Looks utterly brilliant. I'll admit I've always preferred the Luna Wolves over the Sons of Horus, but these are excellent. That said, as others have mentioned, either drop Mal's arm a bit or raise it. Right now it looks like he's trying to shoot a Contemptor in the face, and I don't think Mal would be daft enough to be doing that.

Progress on Squad Jareddek - 13/18 complete - next is my Justaerin squad and a Dreadclaw to reward myself:

I can't wait to use their 8 billion attacks on an unlucky group of sods :devil: I absolutely love these Set B mkIV shoulder pads as they feel dark and Cthonic. I'm anxious to paint them up in a dark brass/gold. Also, I will be getting some chains and skulls (yeah I'm into that kinky stuff) and festooning their armor with gold dipped skulls.

Thanks man! If they look half way decent in unpainted resin, just wait for me to get a hold of some paint!!!

And I completely agree with the arm. I may need to locate a "pointy" hand or green stuff my own. I wanted it to feel like he's jabbing his Bolter at some non XVIth legion filth that deserves to get chopped up into little tiny bits by his gang of ruffians :D

WIP Justaerin squad:

Thanks :)

Always great to see others of the XVIth Legion making progress, the buff to the Justaerin in book 6 will make yours a force to be reckoned with.

Go forth! Build! Paint! Convert! Kill for the living! Kill for the dead! Lupercal!

This is how Sons of Horus motivate each other.

Thanks guys!

I also started work on the Justaerin as I want to get them largely painted before I add the dipped skull trophies. Man, Corvus Black is pretty awesome and a new favorite - it adds a slight grey tone to help off set the black as seen above^^

@WP

Thanks! I personally love the darker green, but I'm going to do a SoH green highlight and a coelia Greenshade wash on them as well.

@Bladewolf

First rule of Lodge Club....don't mention Lodge Club.

@Rangaman

...you could say it was an affinity for dark green, my favorite color, but I'm shooting for a dark, Cthonic late war look ;)

Hey so I tried Gehennas gold on a test Justaerin- what do you guys think? Should it be a silverish gold instead?

The gold you've got does look nice and solid. Maybe it's just me but it doesn't pop out (obviously this depends on the look you're ultimately aiming for). I personally would either edge highlight it with runefang to give it that shiny light catching edge, or just use Auric Armour gold to make the rivets and rim stand out more.

The best example I have is my breacher marine (because he has the most visible gold). But I finish my gold of with a highlight of Auric then an extreme edge of Runefang. It would in my view look equally good with either Auric or Runefang to make the gold more vibrant.

Work on the first dreadclaw:

Hard to see with the lighting but I pre scorched the bottom by doing a Corvus/Chaos black dusting:

Honestly they're just missing faces and bases at this point.

Actually, I'd like to hear what people think about for bases...should I do the swamp ones like my Malinax? Or something else?

@Pallas

Lol I want to finish them, but at the same time, take my time since they are centerpiece models.

@Jimbo

Thanks! I still have a ways to go with the green and highlighting. The Justaerin I want to highlight very lightly, but don't know where to begin without ruining the models.
