Aebethan (Death Knell of the Loyalists)

I am really digging the burnt gold you've got going, but maybe the chain should be silver to make the skulls pop a little more. At the moment it kinda gets lost in a sea of gold.

I'm willing to take a vote for that :)

I'll take a simple majority for the paint job, so I'll give you guys 24 hours to choose silver or gold (hush Yukon Cornelius).

@bladewolf

No real tanks for 2500 points, but I've got a Fellblade lying around hereabouts that's begging for a paint job...;)

@pearson+fire golem

Thanks guys!

@Kurama

While that sounds awesome, it's blend in with my balc armor :P

@Marshal

That's another vote for silver! The chain does not in fact come with the model, nor do the skulls. I got the jeweler's chain off of eBay (comes in many colors) and the skulls from secretweaponminis.

The gold recipe is simple:

1.) prime black

2.) paint a few layers of Gehenna's Gold

3.) wash with 50/50 Agrax and Nuln oil

4.) highlight with Gehenna's Gold

He who speaks with the gold caressed skulls of leaders and generals long since departed...

...and when they speak to him in return...death and insanity are left in his wake. So shall the end of days come.

That looks great, very good pose but the only thing that I'm not so sure on is the topknot as it is right in front of the phosphex bomb.

I had considered that as well :D

My rationale was that the launcher would pivot up to fire in an arc rather than shoot straight.

So I'm considering posing my leviathan like so (pic below) on a secretweaponmini urban rubble base. The intent would be to show the Levi crashing through a staunch defense manned by blood angels...say a Solar planet garrison force, or fortified city, or perhaps Terra itself.

@fire golem

I await yours with eager anticipation ;) mayhaps a black shield one...?

@Viridia

Dude this thing is the lovechild of a castraferrum and a contemptor. It's beautiful in a way that it's a 5 ton death machine that can tie up half of an army. I'm curious what you like about the pose? Lol. Most people I see do the gun in the right arm.

@pearson & jimbo

Thanks guys! I'm still debating whether or not to do a large topknot as Kurama suggests. I've also been considering adding the chaos vehicle spikes to the top too, but I don't want to be OTT. Once it is painted, I'll slap some Cthonian glyphs on it :D

@bladewolf

I've seen a beautiful 1st company leviathan that Grieux did in all black with red accents, but I think I'll attempt something different. I'm considering all dark sea green/jade but with black on those two massive chest plate thingies, the drill housing, and the right (from viewer to picture) knee pad.

I'll take any suggestions though!

Looks good.

My suggestion would be to do the central torso section black then use gold for trimmings and red to accent.

The Puffa-jacket ssections either side of the torso, Sea Green

Upper Dreadnaught arms in black, fore-arms in sea green... That way blood spatter on the drill will be easily visible rather than just looking like a glossy black.

Crotch and upper legs in black, lower legs black or sea green your choice.

The sea green sections, you can do black diagonal stripes etc for designs and Cthonian glyphs. They would be more limiting if done on black and it looks like the original dread has been bulked up and re-armoured too from his original Justaerin Contemptor form.

So I'm getting back into it with school winding down, but here's what I'm looking at for making Tybalt Marr:

Not the best picture of him above, but he seems like a no-nonsense kinda guy. He understands and respects his enemy - not killing them in fanciful coupes de grâce, but in the most efficient manner possible. Not wholly brutal like his brothers, nor subtle with a blade like an EC sword master.

I tried capturing this by making him similiar to his image above - striding toward his enemy with a conviction. Not throwing his blade about with abandon, nor running forward filled with zeal. An efficient, military professional.

Note this is just a rough pose of what I want, though I'll be swapping out the blade, putting the eye of Horus on his chest, and giving him a commander's cape. His base will be slightly more dynamic as well.

It isn't much, but it's a start :)
