So it looks like we get re-vamped Legion Armour types compatible with Betrayl at Calth and the newly re-done weapon packs, including Legion MkV and MkVI for the first time:

All packs are £24 each

Mk II

Having taken a closer look at the photos, I think I'm impressed.

  • The ridges of the Mk II - IV shoulder pads are more pronounced, and much more in line with the later Legion shoulder pads. Also they'll be much easier to snip off without damaging the rims (a bane of my hobby for some of the older kits).
  • I love MkV, it's my favorite armour type (it's all about the bonding studs), and those chest pieces look so crisp and elegant. But there's something about the thigh straps on some of the models that seem out of place. Maybe they're part of the older sculpt and haven't been refreshed?
  • The Legion MkVI are glorious, finally more than two different leg poses!

The MKIV poses are much nicer than their plastic counterparts but given the price difference I can't imagine they'll be all that popular. MKV and MKVI poses are also very good; I can see myself adding a squad of MKV to my Minotaurs as the basis of some Siege Mantlet Tacticals smile.png

Edit: I'd been holding off on a FW order in the hope that the Alpha Legion Headhunter kit was going to be this week's release, so in that respect I'm a little disappointed, but these kits certainly make up for it!

The models are nice, but isn't 24 GBP more money for fewer hands? I thought they were 23 GBP previously. Sounds like Legion Tartaros Terminators/Taratros Terminators all over again. sad.png

Interstingly the painted MK IV marine looks like he still has the old shoulder pads.

Aquilas on every MK II belt buckle? That looks weird for pre heresy armour.

Ah but you forget GrandMagnus, the traitors were fighting the Emperor and his loyalists, not the Imperium itself, they wanted to rule the empire they helped build, not destroy it. That came after their defeat and 10 millennia of warp-fuelled bitterness set in, so it isn't out of place for heresy-era traitors to still wear the Aquila, they still believe they're fighting for the Imperium, that they're saving it from the clutches of an uncaring tyrant and putting the more-deserving Warmaster on the throne.

I've only ever glanced at Heresy stuff. What's the difference between the Legion-version of the MK V and MK VI suits and the old ones?

Looks to me like they're new sculpts, as the posing is dfifferent. (Obviously they lack right hands now too, to be compatible with the new weapon packs) Compare:

Ah, fair enough. Although I would have thought the symbol of this new Imperium under Horus would be the eye of Horus. But since I have seen versions of the eye of horus surrounded by wings and the like, i guess you are right.

Because the mk iv often previously came with broken mis-moulded shoulder pads that were too thin and flaked. Now a bit thicker might be better

Indeed. I actually had the that problem with the previous MK V / VI soulder pads, too thin and often full of air-pockets.
