A tricky kitbash scenario

So I'm tinkering with a small Blood Angels project, featuring Angels that have...strayed, shall we say.

The Angels Moribund have gone a tad nutters, traitorous, and yet for misguidedly noble purpose.  To represent the former, I think Raptors would be suitably ideal.  For the latter, traditional Angel stuff would make sense.

The trick- Raptor bits don't seem particularly compatible with kitbashing.  The excessively jagged patterns stand out starkly against relatively plain SM armor, and especially against the softer shapes of Blood Angel armor.  In fact, it doesn't seem easy to blend with any kits at all.

But while I can't think of anything, I'd wager someone else could or has.  Anyone have any ideas, or better yet, examples of someone doing the same?

For the record, I have zero skill or interest in using greenstuff.

You could always cut off the detailing you don't like on the raptor parts and sand the surface smooth?  I don't know-- I do a fair bit of converting and kitbashing, and I just can't picture the amalgamation of the BA and chaos raptors in a way that's going to look good without a lot of work involved.

You're right in that the Raptor kit, while nice on its own, does not play well with others. I'd just use some bits out of it, like the clawed feet, some of the weapons, and the jump pack.

Waaay back when I first started my Thread of Stuff, I used one of the bladed feet from that kit on the Iron Warriors captain devoted to Khorne and it was relatively easy to do.

A wee bit of greenstuff to smooth the transition, but on the conversion difficulty scale, it's pretty low. Some regular assault marine running legs, maybe Mk IV heads from the B@C box, etc. Totally kitbash the things, pulling interesting pieces from wherever to minimize the amount of conversion work you'd have to do.

Yeah, I've thought about using the bits very sparingly per model.  The weapon arms in particular.  The legs are much too big to really get away with, but one gnarly arm...maybe.  The weapons are damned cool all the same.  And the jump packs could go over fine.  It's all that jagged faux lightning stuff that really messes things up.

Actually, aside from the chests and legs, and some of the more ornate shoulders, I think it could work if done sparingly enough.  Maybe.  Basic SM bits are blank enough to work, but Blood Angel bits are very ornate, and a totally different style.

Hmmm, I wonder how Sanguinary Guard legs would look with sharp pointy feet.

The Raptor leg detailing actually cuts away fairly easily, so my suggestion would be to remove the middle lightning detailing, and leave the edges of the armour detailing in place. That should give you the effect you're looking for, especially if you combine in a Blood Angel Tactical squad into the mix.
