AfroCampbell
Kind of, not my home address, one that I receive mail to. Thanks Slips, but not really too much of a panic, just a mailing address. Terminus
Who wants to chip in to buy this brother a Betrayal at Calth set?Honestly, given what he lost and his current financial strain, that would be a cruelty. Oh lookie, nice plastic models remind me of my loss that I'm tempted to assemble which I need to buy glue for and paint which I need to buy paint for and transport which I need to buy a transport for. Oh, and it's only good for a troop core so I need to buy more stuff to play now. If you're feeling charitable, the cost of the box would go a lot farther. You know, as someone who's been there (was stolen a couple grand worth of magic cards a couple years back) I would Reeeaaaaaally disagree with that statement. You can model for a couple of months on Calth box contents. Starting from scratch stings for sure but it can always bring you a second wind. Sure money helps, but having some quality hobby time makes a huge difference. 120$ doesnt make a huge difference if you are in a giant financial pit, it takes time to get out of those. But to have something to fallback to in a hobby you love is priceless. Ishagu
Time heals all wounds, that much is true. You won't have to spend as much to get yourself back to where you were, you have more experience now and could make more efficient purchases for an even stronger force. Facing a new army right now, with the loss of your models being so recent, will be tough. Don't give up! The hobby will always be fun! It does give you some opportunity to try out some pretty cool new options though - the Victory in Vengeance campaign (basically Kill Team), or Zone Mortalis (even just using a paper map like old school DnD) can all be played with low points games. Slips
Starting over, as oddly as it sounds, can usually be a good thing, imo. Looking at my collection now, I'd 100% without a doubt change a fair few of the purchases I've made and/or Units I've Modeled. Take this as an opportunity to start over with a more focused and informed direction on where you want to go with this. To me, this leads to an overall greater enjoyment since you're not like "Why did I ever make X? I'll never use him :\" And the like. ElectricPaladin
I disagree entirely. When I lost an army to theft, even the small gifts I got were very heartening, even beyond how helpful they were. AfroCampbell
If the B@C did happen, (and please don't read this as presumptuous in any way, I totally am just blown away that an awesome bunch of people I haven't met would even suggest it!) I would be incredibly grateful! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/318650-noooo-farewell-dear-bc/page/2/#findComment-4290881 Share on other sites
Daemon2027
I'm really sorry that you lost everything, the car would be bad enough, although I'm guessing that will be covered by insurance. I'd be happy to contribute in some small way. Millicant
Let it never be said that the B&C left a brother behind. I will gladly contribute a small amount to AfroAid. Let's have somebody take the lead on this and coordinate for the group. I suggest no solicitation, as that can sour a situation quickly. Athrawes
It sucks to start over, with the fire last year I had to do just that, but I've found that in rekindled (pun intended) my love for the hobby. ElectricPaladin
I'm going to assume that the primary goal is a B@C box. For the purposes of figuring out if we can go even further (like the B@C Alpha Legion bundle, or even two B@Cs...), I'm going to assume that the minimum donation is $10/£7. If everyone donates that little and we still have more than B@C costs, we'll talk about doing more. Let me know if that's too much for you - no shame in that! - and I'll keep it in mind. Alternately, let me know if you feel you can give more. Before we can go forward, I need a final count of folks who want to get involved. Rather than going back through the entire thread, let's do it this way. If you would like to contribute to the AfroCambell Redemption Fund, quote this post in your reply and add the phrase "The Heresy Train Has No Breaks."
