Who wants to chip in to buy this brother a Betrayal at Calth set?

Honestly, given what he lost and his current financial strain, that would be a cruelty. Oh lookie, nice plastic models remind me of my loss that I'm tempted to assemble which I need to buy glue for and paint which I need to buy paint for and transport which I need to buy a transport for. Oh, and it's only good for a troop core so I need to buy more stuff to play now.

If you're feeling charitable, the cost of the box would go a lot farther.

You know, as someone who's been there (was stolen a couple grand worth of magic cards a couple years back) I would Reeeaaaaaally disagree with that statement. You can model for a couple of months on Calth box contents. Starting from scratch stings for sure but it can always bring you a second wind. Sure money helps, but having some quality hobby time makes a huge difference. 120$ doesnt make a huge difference if you are in a giant financial pit, it takes time to get out of those. But to have something to fallback to in a hobby you love is priceless.

Time heals all wounds, that much is true.

You won't have to spend as much to get yourself back to where you were, you have more experience now and could make more efficient purchases for an even stronger force.

Facing a new army right now, with the loss of your models being so recent, will be tough.

Don't give up! The hobby will always be fun!

This I agree with, although I've not been in the situation.

It does give you some opportunity to try out some pretty cool new options though - the Victory in Vengeance campaign (basically Kill Team), or Zone Mortalis (even just using a paper map like old school DnD) can all be played with low points games.

Starting over, as oddly as it sounds, can usually be a good thing, imo.

Looking at my collection now, I'd 100% without a doubt change a fair few of the purchases I've made and/or Units I've Modeled.

Take this as an opportunity to start over with a more focused and informed direction on where you want to go with this. To me, this leads to an overall greater enjoyment since you're not like "Why did I ever make X? I'll never use him :\" And the like.

Let it never be said that the B&C left a brother behind.

I will gladly contribute a small amount to AfroAid. Let's have somebody take the lead on this and coordinate for the group. I suggest no solicitation, as that can sour a situation quickly.

If people wanna put money together I'll chip in :-)

As would i, thats a awful tragedy for any wargamer on like so many levels that im sure i dont need to even begin talking about, so aye if theres a motion to make this happen id happily put something towards it

I'm going to assume that the primary goal is a B@C box. For the purposes of figuring out if we can go even further (like the B@C Alpha Legion bundle, or even two B@Cs...), I'm going to assume that the minimum donation is $10/£7. If everyone donates that little and we still have more than B@C costs, we'll talk about doing more. Let me know if that's too much for you - no shame in that! - and I'll keep it in mind. Alternately, let me know if you feel you can give more.

Before we can go forward, I need a final count of folks who want to get involved. Rather than going back through the entire thread, let's do it this way. If you would like to contribute to the AfroCambell Redemption Fund, quote this post in your reply and add the phrase "The Heresy Train Has No Breaks."

Unfortunately I have run out of likes for the day, but I am incredibly blown away by the massive generosity! I pledge that wheni graduate,(4/6 year through my degree currently... Sigh so long lol) I shall run a painting/modelling contest with massive prizes like Spartans, B@C equivalent sets up for grabs to show my incredible appreciation for the Bolter and Chainsword community!

You guys are legends!!

All I want in return is A FULLY DETAILED Work in progress thread. And just as an idea, you could name some of the marines after us ;)
