Heyo. Which of you is Dominic and which of you is Jamie? You forgot to let me know your B&C handle, so I can't square up the donations to my satisfaction; I want to make sure I'm super transparent and everything is on the up-and-up.

I thought I put my handle in, but I'm Dominic. Unless there is another?

I actually guessed that Dominic might be Dom_. But no, you didn't. No big deal, though.

I'm a bit torn, as I think the Betrayal at Calth set is a great box, but I also see the advantage of a single smaller Forgeworld set.

If I were starting my collection over from scratch, I think I might prefer a single awesome FW set. Then again, I'm more of a hobbyist and someone who games often might prefer the box.

Brothers, what are your thoughts?

If you can afford FW, get FW. Its much better quality than B@C.

Ahhh!! Such hard choices, new WS sound like sweet as rules, but AL! And then IF got buffed and a decent new ROW!!! ohmy.png hard choices all over again!!!

Flesh is weak. That is all you need to know. Vote for your Local Iron Hands representative today!

I'd go for the BaC over a FW set, but I've a dislike of resin (i know, i know...) andlove the ease of the plastic

and avoid the AL at all cost! nobody wins when the magical-space-wizard-ninja-unicorns-pirate-cyborgs enter the game. Really, nobody. Nobody knows who's side they are on, least of all them.

But but but.... I am Alpharius! But also a loyal son of dorn! And a scar!

AL

Exodus, Dynat, Skorr

Alpha striking, cool assassins, lots of shooty, many armour marks suit them

Alpharius rules funny

Lernean are cool!

Negatives -

Lack of character driven narrative

All one colour

Alpharius weak

Traitors limited allies / ROW no allies

WS

Yesugei, Shioban Khan, leader of termies

Biker units likely elite, plus unique termies

Best upgrade kit

Awesome rules, plus cool power spears and moustaches!

Cool thematically, suits many armour marks, many cool equipment pieces

COULD BE GOOD ALLIES LIST

Negatives -

Doesn't suit mark V

White and patterns are hard to paint, and slightly monotone

Wait until late 2017 for characters!

Heavy support in number, and dreadnoughts are out!!

IF

Sigismund, Polux, likely Archamus

Very character driven lists.... DORN!!!!

Phalanx Warders are cool

Colour scheme already down pat

Colour scheme interesting, and decal sheet awesome

Good ROW and termy lists

Negatives -

Doesn't suit mark IV onwards as well

Likely mark VII by Seige

More yellow

Upgrade kits lame

Not to seem too argumentative but regarding the negatives you've listed:

There's massive scope for character driven armies with the AL - nobody knows exactly what they're about so you have pretty much free reign to impose any theme you want on them. Dynat is a perfect example of that - showing that despite the perception of complete anonymity outside the Legion, there are individuals who are far more than a sneaky sneaky assassinate approach. Same with the colour. There's several shades of blue from the metallic to the darker blue you see in the 40k scheme but there's also black, silver and bronze thrown in for good measure too so plenty to keep it interesting.

As for the loyalists/traitor effort, they can be what you want. The only time that falls over is if you take one of the named characters who can only be taken in traitor lists. And if you want allies, just don't take a RoW or at the very least stick to the generic ones :)

And finally, Alpharius weak? Definitely not. He's never going to stamp other Primarchs in the way Horus or Angron will be he can more than do the job against anything else plus giving preferred enemy everything to the whole army is the biggest bonus any Primarch gives. And you don't have to wait for his model ;)

Yea I should put some qualifiers in ( this was just my notes ..oops! )

Alpharius isn't weak, but as you say he won't stomp the other primarchs I play against...

The character driven thing ... I agree there is scope, but unfortunately there are few characters in BL novels ATM in the AL that I love yet.... Whereas there are plenty inIF / WS ....however I do like the AL a lot! Hard choices :).

GO FISTS!!!!!

I'm now going to hide in my big castle and point all the guns over the walls.... cause reasons!!! Plus we have Siggy and the only Primarch who rocks the sideburns, properly!!!

Here at the b&c once your considered a brother an active member of our community people do whatever they can in whatever manner they can to help each other out, this can be seen from the annual donation drive to the charitable events for fraters and moderators.

Many of us even send rare oop models to other fraters I personally received a bunch of raptor back packs and have sent a rogue trader Predator many pewter Deamons of Nurgle and other bits and bobs to fraters who would put them to use.

At the end of the day the more you put in to the community the better our hobby is
