You still taking donations?

Bah, I don't care. Just sent out a little something from my pocket money. Get yourself some glue and clippers and start over with a fresh box of B@C like I am right now msn-wink.gif

I'll make sure to make a big announcement when I send out the package!

And we demand a pic of afro Campbell cuddling his box of plastic goodies (no I kid of course there's no need for demands just happy to help him out)

It's also very tough with all the new info coming out!!! AL seem to have taken a random mixed bag of buffs and nerfs, however mostly nerfed, IF got buffed but I still have issues with stuff there, and WS are looking great rules wise, and with assault marines getting a points reduction, I could see an epic liset forming there... So many cool options all around... Not that being competitive is the only consideration...

After a while in GW gaming, I learned to not care about rule sets and only rely on how much I love the aesthetics and fluff. Because

"buffs and nerfs come and go, but awesome minis are eternal."

Listen to this man. Thinking too much about rules can ruin your hobby. I needed to take a long break because of that ;)

Hmm then I really need to work out whether I can actually paint these colour schemes. Anyone actually know how to do the red lightening and scars patterns found on WS?

I have found plenty of helpful AL Legion material on here if I go down that road... So many cool AL armies on BaC atm!

The red lightning can be easily done with either masking tape or just a steady hand.

The hard part with WS is actually getting the white to not look flat.

But they look incredible when you get it right :)

Hey team, I thought I would update you, I am going to try a test model this week hopefully of both AL and WS and see which one I prefer

(if anyone is wondering where I got the models, I had only 2 single models that were not in my car when it was stolen, two apothecaries, so I will repaint them with some basic supplies that I will hopefully be able to afford after getting paid this week).... fingers crossed this goes well and I will decide what legion to go with! I apologise with taking so long to decide, I just cannot decide between some very cool legions, and with so many awesome models out there and so much time and effort going into painting them I wanna take this opportunity to decide on a decent army that I will be happy painting for a long time into the future...

May I suggest something? Why not take some inspiration from your experience and go with Shattered Legions? Perhaps Black Shields?

it has been on my mind.... however I just love the XXth and the Vth so much I cannot NOT do one of them... :D :D :D hahaha its like choosing between my (imaginary) children... how do you pick a fav?? :D

If I were in your position, I'd choose Alpha Legion. The main reason is that they currently have a model range, transfers, and FW books fleshing out their appearance/tactics/history/whatever. Whilst you could use that as an excuse to say 'why not go White Scars and let your imagination go wild', my personal approach would be to go with the army that would afford the widest and deepest options in terms of models and inspiration so as not to look forward in a year or two when some more White Scars stuff comes out and you think 'damn, I wish I built my army with those'. Plus you wrote that piece of AL fluff that was a good yarn so that's another reason to go with them!

Hahaha that is actually not bad reasoning, however my painting is SOOOO slow that it probs wouldnt matter, a year or two i might almost have finished a single marine ;) .....

I have been fairly busy, so havent had a lot of a chance to think it through, however I have pluses and minuses for both. and tbh you have really nailed one of the major advantages of AL. Plus i can imagine the Alpharius model being so badass, and probably the only helmed primarch. The Khan would probably be pretty epic, and i imagine that the special characters for WS would probs be more up my alley than AL (for some reason Dynat just doesn't pop for me yet.... maybe its just the FW paint scheme... i dunno though i imagine he would be much cooler to actually hold in resin, and Exodus is just kinda lame rules-wise), especially if they have any special characters on a jetbike with power glaives.

I also cannot decide what is harder, white or metallic blue... (i know many will suggest white, however I have previous experience here so slightly levels the playing field...), and I kind of love the idea of trying to personalise each white scar, whereas it seems kind of counter-fluffy to do that for AL...

I dunno ... if you have got this far reading thanks for putting up with my mad ramblings lol, my brain is a crazy place.

Question were AL on Terra in the old fluff?

Okay, everyone. Here's the deal.

At present, I have been able to positively identify 17 donors. There are FIVE of you who pledged to donate who didn't remember to tell me your real names - not to mention the possibility of people who didn't pledge, but sent money anyway - so I have no idea what to do with your money, or even if the money you sent me is for this and not for something I sold on Bartertown or something. So, if you sent me money and didn't put your username in the notes, please send me a PM (or comment here) with your real name so I can connect your real name to your username. I'm pretty sure you can go back to PayPal to check the details of the transfer, which will tell you if you put your username in the notes.

That said, we have raised a grand (confirmed) total of $240 (US). That's $80 shy of a Calth bundle and $90 more than a basic B@C box. Depending on how much our five mystery men donated, we might already have enough for a B@C bundle and not know it yet! And if we don't, we still have enough for a B@C box and some goodies, like a couple of blisters of shoulder pads, a praetor set, a unit of legion-specific BAMFs, etc.

As soon as I have the last few donations confirmed (and anyone else who wants to donate... it's not too late as long as we have donors outstanding...) I'll post the final total and we can get down to business (to defeat... whichever side AC decides against).
