jacqualine47
I've been trying to pick a Knight house and a Titan Legio to go with my Word Bearers (whom are generally modeled to be calth to just after Calth era... so red with some trappings of the Primordial Truth, but still bearing some of the eagles etc since they haven't had much time to rework armour since they were masquerading as loyal to ensnare the ultrasmurfs) I've been having a hard time with the choice, because I can't find any official Knight House known for palling around with the Word Bearers, and I just don't like the Legio Suturvora paint scheme (I'd like to avoid excessive black if I can - and flames are hard to paint). Any suggestions? I've had several people tell me to just do them in red, black, and silver to match my WB, but I would rather pick something official. I was thinking about the titan legion that was with the World Eaters and Word Bearers in Betrayer, but I don't have the dead tree book and it'd be a bit much to listen to the audio-book again to get the details on their paint scheme and symbols (if they are even there). Also, I'm torn on picking the models. I was planning on using the standard knight and titan models (the ones that would be considered 'Imperial' in 40k), but my wife thinks that I should use the Chaos knight and Chaos Titan models (she says that they look cooler, and that if the Tainted Dreadnought and Gal Vorbak can look that Chaosy then the titans etc should be able to too). I do like them and agree with her to an extent, but I worry about whether they will make my force loose the 'Heresy' feel to them and push it over to just being 40k CSM with a 30k list. I thought that maybe a good compromise would be the chaos models with a heresy era paint scheme (like, for example, Legio Mortis's pre-heresy paint scheme) to show their corruption. I know that in "Honour to the Dead" the warhound Denala was pretty obviously possessed and had become tainted by Chaos, and House Devine in "The Vengeful Spirit" seemed to be well on the way to corruption and perma-bonding the pilots to their mounts a la a chaos knight... so maybe the chaos model with a worn pre-heresy paint scheme would be appropriate for a war engine that has been recently twisted by Chaos? Anyway, I'd really like to hear some opinions, because I'm hoping to make a big Forgeworld order soon but I have to settle on a decision first :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/318731-choosing-knightstitans-to-go-with-word-bearers/ Share on other sites
Dantay VI
So you are thinking of Legio Audax, which specialised in using Warhound Titans? Poom did an ace Audax Warhound. http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/288089-but-blood-blood-is-forever/?p=4214821 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/318731-choosing-knightstitans-to-go-with-word-bearers/#findComment-4290166 Share on other sites
Castellan Cato
Legio Suturvora (which changed its name to Infernus) fought with them at Calth. Their colors seem to be black and orange. http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Legio_Suturvora Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/318731-choosing-knightstitans-to-go-with-word-bearers/#findComment-4290197 Share on other sites
Dantay VI
Why not get a regular Knight and Chaos Knight then mix the bits together, that way they both look slightly corrupted without going full Chaos? Noctus Cornix
Seems your wife and I are on the same page when it comes to the War Machines of traitors alongside the Word Bearers. With my new job that I've gotten I have been considering getting a Warhound titan of my own. Sadly I cannot offer you any 'official' titan legion color scheme to pick as I frankly don't like any of them. What I've been considering for my Titan Legion is an obscure Titan Legion by the name of Legio Lacrymea also known as the Harbringers of Grief. They have very little lore to them and originally atleast they're described as being a loyalist Legion that turned traitor in M.39 during a crusade in the Halo Stars. The last and only time they've ever been mentioned was in the Siege of Vraks books (3 I think.) That being said, I'm a lover of classical music and Lacri(y)mosa has been one of my favorite pieces and I adore the history behind the Christian depiction of Mary as "Our Lady of Sorrow" Knowing that this is one of the largest civil wars in the Imperium's history I don't see why I can't say that a huge chunk of the Legion turned to traitor, those who marched with the XVII Legion for decades and have come to understand the Primordial Truth. As far as a color scheme goes, I've been thinking of something almost Monochromatic, a porcelain white armour with either black or a very dull metallic trim. I've had it in my mind to try and stencil paint the outlines of screaming and writhing angels in pure black along the armour plating where I can. Those of the Legio that turned traitor during the Heresy venorate Slaanesh in a general sense of the term but their asthetic is art, beauty and refinement. I absolutely love the idea of a somber and slow requiem piece playing in the ears of a Princep as their Titan God Machine massacres civilians and butchers the throne-loyal Legionaries. I have more lore ideas on them but I'll just keep that simple for now. I'd be happy to detail more if you like, just pop me a PM. As for a Knight House, and this might be a bit of a shameless plug in, but I might as well offer my own Knight House, House Le'leux. The color scheme is primarily black and a royal blue with dark silver trim and white used some times in the heraldry. Once again, you can use these guys for both the heresy and after. Rather than speak in merely hypotheticals, here is a picture of one. Apologies on the poor camera work, this was taken a good while back. http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac352/Noctus-Cornix/20141123_004345_zps7a9eb06a.jpg As for the lore for them, I'll simply post a link to what I have written about them on one of my older blogs. I plan to give them a proper update once I start my newest blog but the color will remain the same and the lore will mostly remain as well. Here's the link. http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274401-from-the-abyss-a-word-bearers-log-today-we-say-goodbye/?p=3870532 I know that neither of these are technically official and I apologize if this comes across as just trying to show off my own stuff, but these are the two ideas I plan to be using for my Titan Legio and Knight House to go alongside my Word Bearers and I hope they work for you or atleast give you an idea of something you might want to do. If they interest you, feel free to just pass me a PM :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/318731-choosing-knightstitans-to-go-with-word-bearers/#findComment-4290237 Share on other sites
